BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Senior Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) and junior Jerry Luckett, Jr. scored 42 second half points for the Owls in a 105-103 season-opening victory over Holy Family University this evening.
 
Luckett scored 23 of his a team-high 30 points in the second half along with 13 rebounds for the Owls. Mallory scored 19 of his 25 points in the second half. Senior Austin Carter (Bloomfield, Conn.) finished the game with a double-double posting 17 points and 12 boards.

SCSU had three players finish with double-doubles.

Five Owls scored more than 10 points.

• Michael Mallory – 25 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
• Jerry Luckett, Jr. – 30 points, 13 rebounds.
• Austin Carter – 17 points and 12 rebounds
• Sophomore Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.)  - 13 points and 6 rebounds 
• Freshman Taurus Adams II (Milwaukee, Wisc.) - 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The Owls made 25-of-27 free throws (21-23 in the second half).
 
CONTROLLING THE GLASS
SCSU outrebounded Holy Family, 51-27. The Owls added 24 points off of second chance opportunities.
