BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team came up short against the University of Bridgeport this evening, 100-89.
The Owls trailed by nine at the half, 50-41. SCSU trimmed the deficit to three points in the second half, but weren't able to overcome the barrage of three-pointers from the Purple Knights' offense. Bridgeport scored 27 of its 50 points in the second half from three-point range (9-of-13) en route to a victory.Â

Jerry Luckett, Jr. (Milwaukee, Wisc.) scored 50 of the Owls 89 points. Mallory, scored 25 points on 10-of-21 shooting with seven rebounds and four assists. Luckett, Jr. scored 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting and six rebounds in 33 minutes of play. Sophomore
Joey Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) finished the game with 11 points and tied his career-high in assists with eight.Â

The Owls scored 21 points off of second chance opportunities.Â
CONTROLLING THE PAINT
SCSU scored 42 of its 89 points in the paint versus Bridgeport's 26. The Owls controlled the glass, outrebounding the Purple Knights, 45-33.Â

Bridgeport finished the game shooting 50 percent from three-point range (13-26), where the Owls shot 35 percent (7-20).
