The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team will play two games this week beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. as it plays host to Adelphi University, followed by a road game against the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m.
ALL-TIME VS ADELPHIÂ
SCSU leads the all-time series versus Adelphi, 19-6. The Owls won both meetings against the Panthers last season.

Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) scored 28 points in 34 minutes of play.

Austin Carter (Bloomfield, Conn.) recorded 19 points with six boards.

SCOUTING ADELPHIÂ
The Panthers are 2-0 on the year after defeating Felician University, 77-76, followed by a 95-78 victory over Georgian Court. Adelphi has three players averaging over 15 points per game - Michael Coffey (23.5 ppg and seven rebounds), Manny Suarez (20.5 ppg and 11 rebounds) and Jack Laffey (16.5 ppg and 7.5 rebounds).
ALL-TIME VS. UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCESÂ
The Devils lead the all-time series, 1-0. Both teams played each other for the first time last season. The Owls were ousted by the Devils, 104-92 in that game.

Austin Carter scored a career-high 20 points along with eight rebounds.
SCOUTINGÂ UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCESÂ
The Devils kicked off the 2016-17 season with a 78-66 win over LIU Post. In its second game, the Devils fell short to NYIT, 68-62. Junior Will Gregortis leads his team in scoring with 20 points per game, followed by senior Jon McGill who is averaging 15 ppg.Â
FIRST TWO GAMES FOR THE OWLS
SCSUÂ posted a 1-1 record through its first two games on the year starting with a
105-103 win over Holy Family University. In game two, SCSUÂ fell short to the University of Bridgeport,

A STEP CLOSER
After scoring 50 points through the first two games,
Michael Mallory is now 92 points shy of breaking the schools all-time scoring record held by
Rich Radicioni (1936), who set the record in 1990. Mallory entered the 2016-17 season with 1,795 points, which was sixth all-time.Â

Joey Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) dished out a career-high eight assists against the University of Bridgeport.Â
ATTACKING THE GLASS
Through two games, SCSU is averaging 48 rebounds per game. The Owls recorded 51 rebounds against Holy Family, and 45 rebounds against Bridgeport.Â

The Owls are coming off a year in which they went 22-8, finished first in the NE-10 Conference Southwest Division and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year. The Owls elevated as high as No. 2 in the national rankings last season.

Michael Mallory, who led the team with 23 points per game and was selected as an All-American, All-ECAC, All-Region and All-Northeast-10 Conference performer. ClassmateÂ
Austin Carter averaged 9.8 points per game, 7.7 rebounds and 2.1 blocks and was named 2015-16 Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year, SophomoreÂ
Joey Wallace averaged 7.7 points per game and 4.2 rebounds and was named to the NE-10 All-Rookie Team.Â

For the second year in a row,Â
Michael Mallory was named to the Sporting News preseason All-America Team.Â
SOME RECORDS OWNED, MORE WITHIN REACH
Michael Mallory set a new SCSU single-season program record with 95 three-pointers made last year and is also currently the Owls' all-time leader in three-pointers made with 260 and three-point attempts with 670. He also holds Southern's single-game scoring record with 47 points in a January, 2016 win over Bentley.
CARTER DOES IT DEFENSIVELY
Austin Carter enters his senior season ranked third all-time at SCSU with 168 blocked shots. He's also 15th all-time in career rebounds with 511 boards. The senior earned the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award.

TOUGH PLACE TO PLAY
Moore Field House has been a tough place to play for the Owls who are 37-8 (.822) at home since the start of the 2013-14 season. SCSU has been even better in NE-10 action with a 28-2 mark (.933) in league games.
FACING SOME TOUGH COMPETITION
The Owls will face five teams that reached the NCAA Division II Tournament a year ago – Bentley, Holy Family, Southern New Hampshire, Stonehill and Saint Anselm.
RECENT SEASON-OPENING SUCCESS
The Owls have been victorious in their last six season-opening games dating back to the 2010-11 season, defeating Molloy, Goldey Beacom, Post, Chestnut Hill, Dominican and Dowling.
THRIVING IN THE CLASSROOM
For the second year in a row, the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as a recipient of the 2015-16 Team Academic Excellence Award for its success in the classroom. In addition, five members of the team were selected as honorees for the 2016 NABC Honors Court -Â
