FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 20 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team fell short to Nova Southeastern University this afternoon, 81-78.

FIRST HALF
The Sharks held a 41-38 halftime lead. Senior Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) scored 14 of his 30 points in the first half. Sophomore Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.) scored seven of his 10 points in the first half.
 
SECOND HALF
SCSU carried a one-point lead, 74-73 with a 4:12 to play, after a dunk by junior Jerry Luckett, Jr. (Milwaukee, Wisc.). But the Sharks' offense mounted an 8-4 run to close out the game en route to an 81-78 victory.  
 
OWLS' OFFENSE

• Michael Mallory - 30 points, four rebounds and two assists.
• Sophomore Joey Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) – 11 points, five rebounds and five assists
• Isaiah McLeod - 10 points
• Senior Austin Carter (Bloomfield, Conn.) – six points, nine rebounds and seven blocks (one shy of his career-high)

Austin Carter is now 11th all-time in SCSU history in rebounding with 561 and counting.
 
CRASHING THE BOARDS
SCSU grabbed 14 offensive rebounds.
 
DEFENSE TURNS INTO OFFENSE
The Owls forced 17 turnovers – scored 20 total points off of turnovers.
