NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Austin Carter (Bloomfield, Conn.) poured in 17 of his 19 points in the first half in a 73-63 win over the University of New Haven this evening.

HOT START
SCSU carried a 42-28 halftime lead, where they shot 51 percent from the field. Carter shot 7-of-7 (3-of-3 from 3-point range) as the Owls' defense propelled the Chargers to 36 percent from field (2-of-13 from 3-point range). Junior Jerry Luckett, Jr. (Milwaukee, Wisc.) scored eight of his 13 points in the first half. 

FIGHTING TO THE FINISH
UNH opened up the second half with a 16-2 run, tying the game at 44 all. Senior Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) gave the Owls a 57-55 lead off a fast break dunk that would propel the Owls to maintain the lead for the remainder of the game.

Jerry Luckett, Jr. notched his second double-double on the season with 13 points along with 10 boards.

ATTACKING THE GLASS
SCSU outrebounded the Chargers, 43-32.

Austin Carter is five blocks shy in becoming the program's second all-time leader in blocked shots, trailing Trevon Hamlet (188).

THE SOPHOMORE
For the sixth time in seven games, sophomore Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.) scored over 10 points. McLeod finished the game with 11 points along with three boards in 27 minutes . 

EXTRA EFFORT
Freshman Taurus Adams II (Milwaukee, Wisc.) finished the game with four offensive rebounds, one short of his season-high.
