Box Score WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University baseball fell to cross-town rival New Haven in a Northeast-10 Conference showdown on Wednesday afternoon at Frank Vieira Field by the score of 6-0. With the loss, the Owls are now 8-18-1 and 1-5 while the Chargers improve to 11-12 and 5-4 on the year.

Greg Zullo (Branford, Conn.) led the Owls with a 3-for-4 showing at the plate while senior
Jake Lieberman (Commack, N.Y.) finished the afternoon going 1-for-4.
Senior
Jason Harper (Saugus, Mass.) tossed six innings, giving up five runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking three batters. Following today's loss, Harper is now 3-2 on the mound for Southern Connecticut. Freshman
Shawn Urbano (Stamford, Conn.) relieved Harper in the top of the eighth and allowed one run off three hits.
New Haven broke the silence in the bottom of the second as the hosts scored two runs on two hits and an error, taking a 2-0 lead over the Owls. In the top of the fourth, Southern Connecticut threaten the Chargers with a runners on first and second with one out, but the Chargers would make the double play to end the inning and the threat. In the following half inning, New Haven tacked on another run to make it a three-run game, 3-0, entering the fifth.
New Haven continued to swing the bat and managed to add another two runs to its total, to make it a 5-0 lead at the end of the sixth. Southern Connecticut threatened New Haven again, this time in the top of the seventh, with a runner on second with two outs. New Haven ended the visitors' threat before extending its lead to 6-0 after scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Southern Connecticut was unable to get a rally going in the final two innings and finished the afternoon with just four hits.
The Owls return to action this weekend for a three-game series at the College of Saint Rose. The first two games will be played on Saturday afternoon beginning at noon.
