The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team will play two conference games this week beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. against the University of New Haven (Jess Dow Field), followed by a road game versus Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. (Rindge, N.H.)
 
ALL-TIME VS. NEW HAVEN
The Owls lead the all-time series versus New Haven with a record of 37-10-3. In last year's showdown, SCSU went on to win a 1-0 decision.

ALL-TIME VS. FRANKLIN PIERCE
SCSU holds a 21-11-6 all-time series advantage versus Franklin Pierce. Both teams went toe-to-toe last season in an overtime thriller where the Owls escaped with a 3-2 victory.

NE-10 CONFERENCE PLAY
The Owls are 1-1 on the year in conference play.
 
ONE-TWO PUNCH
Sophomore Alex Brown (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and junior Sabri Akter (Unionville, Conn.) have scored four of the team's seven goals on the year. Both players scored a goal each the last two games. Brown and Akter lead the team in scoring with two goals each.
 
BACK-TO-BACK SHUTOUTS
Junior goalie Noah Varonier (Miller Place, N.Y.) is 3-2 on the year and has recorded back-to-back shutouts.

SCSU was picked fifth in the NE-10 preseason coaches' poll.

IN THE NSCAA POLLS
The Owls were among those receiving votes in the first NSCAA national poll of 2016 and were ranked No. 7 regionally in the first weekly poll.

THE CAPTAINS
Head coach Tom Lang has named Christian Samaniego and Alex Soriano team captains for the 2016 season.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
The Owls welcome 12 newcomers to the squad for the 2016 season, including graduate student Danilo Andrade, juniors Lucas Saunders and Morrice Baker, and freshmen Blaise Haba, James Foster, Connor Bradley, Jan-Malte Thesenvitz, Alex Ramirez, Devante Teixeira, Zak Wright, Kyle Baron and Ian Shannon.

LOOKING BACK AT 2015
The Owls finished the 2015 season with a 9-7-1 record and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

ON DECK
The Owls are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 27 as they host American International College at 7 p.m. (Jess Dow Field).
