After finishing week one with a record of 1-3, the Southern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team looks to snap a three-game losing streak as the Owls prepare for five games in the week ahead. Week two will begin with a non-conference match at Dominican College on Tuesday evening before the Owls travel to Miami Shores for the Barry University Classic on Friday and Saturday. Southern Connecticut will face Lees-McRae College and Valdosta State University on Friday afternoon before tackling Lynn University and host Barry University on Saturday afternoon.

OWLS WIN SEASON OPENER AGAINST MOLLOY
Last week, Southern Connecticut defeated Molloy College, 3-1, in its season opener as part of the Long Island Invitational. The Owls took set one, 25-23, and set two, 25-12, from the Lions, but came up short in set three, 31-29. Southern Connecticut battled back in set four, defeating the Lions 25-18.
 
FRESHMAN IMPACT
Gabriela Vazquez and Jillian Chambers made an impact for the Owls in week one as both set new season/career-highs while Vazquez leads the team with two double-doubles. Vazquez registered a season/career high with 11 kills against Molloy and Chestnut Hill while Chambers posted season/career high 11 kills at NYIT.

The Owls wrapped up the 2015 season with an overall record of 7-26.
 
ON DECK
After being on the road for the first two weeks, the Owls return to New Haven, Conn. to host their home opener on September 13 against Bloomfield College. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Pelz Gym.
