Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) and sophomore
Joey Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) each tallied double-doubles to lead the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team to a 79-67 win over Bentley on Saturday.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
Mallory finished with a game-high 31 points and matched a career-high with 11 rebounds, while Wallace notched 13 points and 10 boards. Jerry Luckett (Milwaukee, Wisc.) also hit double digits with 18 points for the Owls.
HOW IT HAPPENED: It was a close affair for the first 15 minutes of action. The Owls held a 21-17 lead with just under five minutes to go in the frame before going on a 12-2 run to build a 33-19 cushion. SCSU carried that same 14 point lead into the locker room at halftime, 40-26.
SCSU led by double digits for most of the second half. The biggest advantage was 20 points, 66-46 with just under eight minutes to play. However, Bentley went on a 14-2 run over the next five and half minutes to close within eight at 68-60. The Falcons would actually get as close as seven points in the final two minutes but SCSU connected on late free throws for a 12-point final.
GAME NOTES:
- Six different players pulled down at least five rebounds in the game for the Owls (Mallory, Wallace, Luckett,
Noah Miree,
Toby Christensen and
Austin Carter).
- The Owls held Bentley to 24.3% shooting in the first half and just 31.1% for the game.
- Mallory hit on 12-of-18 shots from the field on the night and added three assists, two blocks and a steal.
- It was the fifth career double-double for Mallory and the third for Wallace.
