Neither team could break the tie in the first half despite multiple chances for both sides. The Owls outshot the Hawks 7-5 in the first 45 minutes but were unable to convert their chances into a goal.
SECOND HALF:
The Owls broke the tie in the 67
th minute where the ball was tipped in by a Hawk off a cross from senior
Louis Greenway Tambini (Nottingham, England) to give the Owls a 1-0 lead. The Owls struck again in the 84
th minute when senior
Lucas Saunders (Middletown, Conn.) passed a through ball to Greenway-Tambini that would put him one-on-one with the Saint Anselm keeper; Greenway-Tambini juked the Hawks goalkeeper and slotted it into the back of the net for his 12th goal of the year.
Senior
Noah Varonier (Miller Place, N.Y.) was tested eight times by the Hawks offense but was able to come up strong to keep the shutout, his seventh of the year.
