New Haven, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team claimed a dominant 3-1 victory over the College of Saint Rose in the opening round of the NE10 Tournament.

FIRST HALF
The Owls opened the scoring early in the 17
th minute as senior
Lucas Saunders (Middletown, Conn.) scored off of a low cross from senior
Sabri Akter (Unionville, Conn.). Saunders would slot the ball into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Owls a 1-0 lead.
Senior Louis Greenway-Tambini (Nottingham, England) scored ten minutes later in the 26
th minute when he received the ball at the top of the 18-yard box, dribbled to the right past a defender, cut the ball back to the middle of the field and shot to the far post into the back of the net. The Owls would finish the first half with a 2-0 lead.
SECOND HALF
Greenway-Tambini struck again in the 48
th minute off of a rebound to put the Owls up 3-0 early in the second half. The Golden Knights wouldn't give up though as they put one past the Owls in the 78
th minute of play, a header to the right side of the net to cut the lead down to two. Greenway-Tambini's first goal would prove to be the game-winner and pushed the Owls into the semifinals of the NE10 Tournament.

The Owls will head to North Andover, Mass. on November 3 to face Merrimack in the semifinals of the NE10 Tournament. The game set to start at 7 p.m.
