NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Taylor McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) scored a game high 28 points and added 11 boards and three steals as the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team claimed a 78-52 decision against Saint Rose today in NE10 action.

Junior Abby Hurlbert (Thomaston, Conn.) recorded 15 points with five rebounds while going 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Redshirt junior Murphy Murad (Storrs, Conn.) tallied nine points along with five assists and two rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Owls started off with strong defense and held Saint Rose to three for the first nine minutes of the first quarter. They lead 17-7 after the first quarter. McLaughlin ended the half with 12 points and the Owls lead 33-19 at the half.    
The Owls opened up the lead in the third with help from Hurlbert who scored 10 points in the third to give the Owls a 57-38 lead. The Owls went on to a 78-52 decision.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

SHOOTING LIGHTS OUT: The Owls shot 9-of-10 from beyond the arc in the second half while going 13-of-22 for the game.
