SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sparked by its three captains, all of whom reached double figures, the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team registered a key 55-46 win at LeMoyne this afternoon in NE10 action.

Maria Weselyj (Marlborough, Conn.) totaled 12 points, while classmate
Taylor McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) posted her 12th double-double of the year with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Paige Decker (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) also added nine points and eight rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Owls jumped out to a 10-2 lead and held a three-point cushion after the opening 10 minutes. However, the Dolphins used a 17-4 run spanning both quarters to build a five-point lead at 19-14. SCSU responded with the final five points of the half to knot the score at the break.
Neither team led by more than 10 in the second half. The teams traded leads in the third quarter, but McLaughlin's hoop in the waning seconds of the frame gave the Owls a two-point lead after 30 minutes.
LeMoyne actually scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to take a 40-37 lead. However, Southern answered with a13-3 spurt to take the lead for good.
