Late Rally Pushes AIC Past Owls, 80-75

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -  Redshirt junior guard Murphy Murad (Storrs, Conn.) tallied a career-high 21 points, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team lost an 80-75 decision to AIC tonight in NE10 action.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:


Senior Maria Weselyj (Marlborough, Conn.) recorded 20 points while going 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Taylor McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) tallied a double-double with 10 boards along with 16 points and three blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Owls jumped out to a 9-0 lead on three consecutive shots from beyond the arc. Thanks to some sharpshooting, the Owls had a 25-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Owls then ended the second quarter with a 12-6 run to take a 43-31 lead into the locker room.

The Yellow Jackets cut into the Owls lead in the third, going on a 17-10 run to cut the Owls lead down to three after three quarters. From there, AIC scored the first seven points to take its first lead of the game and, despite a late Owls' push, held on for the win.
