SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team dropped a 67-47 decision against Saint Rose in a second round NCAA Tournament game today. The loss ends the 2016-17 season for the Owls at 18-13.

Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) and junior
Jerry Luckett, Jr. (Milwaukee, Wisc.) each scored 11 points to lead the Owls. Mallory concluded his career as an Owl with a record-setting 2,515 points, also tops in NE10 history.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Golden Knights scored the first 10 points of the game. The Owls cut the gap to within seven at 17-10, but Saint Rose hit a three-pointer to build a 10-point lead. The Golden Knights led by as many as 22 in the first half and carried a 38-18 lead into the break.
Saint Rose extended its lead to 26 points at 51-25 before the Owls went on a 9-0 run to close within 17. However, the Golden Knights seized back momentum and went on to a 20-point win.
