OWLS START CONFERENCE PLAY
The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team went 1-1 last week with a convincing 5-1 rout of Bridgeport and a 2-1 loss to No. 9 nationally ranked LIU Post. The Owls start conference play this week as they go on the road to play UNH on Tuesday, Sept. 12, with the game set to start at 7 p.m. That tilt will be followed by a game on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Bentley, with the game set to start at 3 p.m.

GREENWAY-TAMBINI EARNS NE10 WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Louis Greenway-Tambini was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll after recording two goals and three assists last week against Bridgeport and LIU Post. The senior now leads his team in all statistical categories with an average of three points a game and is on track to have the best statistical season of his collegiate career.
OWLS START OFF ON A HIGH
With the Owls' win last Thursday, they improved to 34-9-2 all-time in season openers. Senior
Louis Greenway Tambini had the game-winning goal that was assisted by
Ignacio Navarro to give the Owls the first win of the 2017 campaign.
CAPTAINS EARN WEEKLY HONORS
Noah Varonier was awarded Goalie of the Week honors for his play in the Owls' home opener against Mercy. He recorded four saves in the win for his first shutout of the 2017 campaign. Louis Greenway-Tambini, meanwhile was named to the weekly honor roll after he scored the game-winning goal for the Owls in the 1-0 victory over Mercy.

Noah Varonier (Miller Place, N.Y.) will serve as the team captains for the 2017 season.
RETURNING OWLS
The Owls have 14 returning players from the 2016 campaign. In addition, the Owls returning field players accounted for 51 percent of the goals from last year, including six tallies from All-Conference pick
Louis Greenway Tambini.
VARONIER KEY TO OWLS DEFENSE
Senior
Noah Varonier started all 17 games for the Owls in his junior year. He posted a 1.44 GAA last season and is a three-year starter for the Owls.
PETKE NAMED REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH
Former Southern Connecticut State University All-American and 2017 SCSU Hall of Fame inductee Mike Petke was named head coach for Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer.
