LOOKING TO KEEP IT GOING
On the heels of four straight wins - all at home - to start the 2017 season, the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team ventures away from Pelz Gym for five contests. The Owls will play in the Post University Tournament on Saturday and Sunday for matches against Bloomfield, Molloy, LIU-Post and the host Eagles. SCSU then ventures to Flushing, N.Y. to take on Queens College on Tuesday evening.

ALL-TIME VS. BLOOMFIELD
The Owls hold a 7-3 edge in the all-time series between the schools. The teams split two matches a year ago, with each winning by a 3-0 score.

ALL-TIME VS. MOLLOY
Southern Connecticut leads 14-13 over Molloy in the all-time series. The Owls claimed a 3-1 win over the Lions in the last meeting, which was the 2016 season opener.

ALL-TIME VS. LIU-POST
LIU-Post holds a commanding 26-1 lead in the all-time series with the Owls. The Pioneers captured a 3-2 win over SCSU at Pelz Gym in last year's meeting.

ALL-TIME VS. POST
The Owls bring a 13-4 advantage in the all-time series with Post into the weekend. The teams last played in 2015, with the Eagles taking a 3-0 win.

ALL-TIME VS. QUEENS
Southern Connecticut leads Queens, 8-6, in the all-time series. In last year's meeting, the Owls pulled out a thrilling five-set win over the Knights.

LAST TIME OUT
Double-double performances from senior Alexandra Nimz and junior Leanna Jadus led the way for the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team in its 3-1 win over Nyack on Tuesday night at Pelz Gym.
• Jadus registered her third straight double-double with 16 digs and 17 kills. For Nimz, it was her second straight double-double after a 43-assist, 11 dig performance.
• Gabriela Vazquez added 10 kills, while Alyssa Gage chipped in nine kills for the Owls.

JADUS OUT TO A QUICK START
Leanna Jadus powered the Owls to a 3-0 opening week with triumphs over Bridgeport, Dominican and Georgian Court, posting two double-doubles in the process. She averaged 4.22 kills and 3.78 digs per set while also hitting at a .281 clip. Jadus led the Owls in kills against Dominican and had double-doubles against Bridgeport and Georgian Court.

GAGE MAKES AN IMPACT
Junior transfer Alyssa Gage fit right into the Owls' rotation during the opening weekend. She posted a team-high .452 hitting percentage in the Owls' three wins, including a perfect 1.000 (7-for-7) mark in the opening win over Dominican, which established a new SCSU single-game record (min. 7 kills).

OFF AND RUNNING
The 4-0 start for the Owls is Southern's first since the 2009 season. That squad set a program record for consecutive wins to start a campaign with 13.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE
Southern's win over Bridgeport on Sunday was the Owls' first over the Purple Knights since the 1999 season.

HITTING SOME MILESTONE MARKS
Several Owls either recently achieved, or are on the cusp of reaching key milestones:
• Alexandria Jurgens tallied her 500th career kill in the win over Georgian Court on Sept. 3.
• Alexandra Nimz enters this weekend's action just six assists shy of hitting 2,000 for her career.
• Leanna Jadus will likely move into fifth place in program history in career attempts this weekend. She enters play with 2,256, just 86 behind Jenna Tammel, who had 2,342.

A GOOD WAY TO START
The Owls have a pair of four-game homestands during the course of the 2017 season, including the opening four contests. The second four-game homestand will take place later in September with matches against New Haven, Concordia, New York Tech and Wilmington.

LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEAR
Southern Connecticut finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 15-19 and a conference record of 4-10. The Owls improved on both their overall and NE10 win totals from the season prior.

THE CAPTAINS
For the second year in a row, senior Nicole Hauser will serve as a team captain. In addition, classmate Alexandra Nimz and junior Leanna Jadus will also fill this role in 2017.

• Leanna Jadus ranks first all-time in single-season attempts and also posted the third-highest single-season kill mark in program history. Jadus also holds four of the top five single-game attempt tallies - including the top-three - and three of the top-seven single-game kill marks in school history.
