HOW IT HAPPENED
-SCSU started with a 19-1 run with in the first six minutes of the first half. Thanks in part to that run, the Owls held at least a 10-point cushion for the rest of the half. The Owls shot 65 percent from the field in the first half with
Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.),
Ulyen Coleman (Brockton, Mass.) and
Jerry Luckett, Jr. (Milwaukee, Wisc.) all reaching double-digit points in the opening 20 minutes.
-The Purple Knights came out of the blocks strong in the second half and used a 15-2 run to come within four points of the Owls. Southern responded with an 11-0 run to bring the lead back to 15 points.
-The Owls never trailed in the entire game and finished the game with a 10-point win over Saint Michael's.
NOTABLE FACTS

Luke Beesley (Champaign, Ill.) recorded his second double-double of his career in the win.
- This is the Owls third win in a row, which ties their longest win streak of the season.
- Luckett, Jr. scored a team-high 20 points in the win against Saint Michael's.
