HOW IT HAPPENED
- SCSU controlled the pace from beginning and had an explosive first quarter in which they shot 77.8% from beyond the arc and outscored the Chargers, 27-11.
- It was a closer scoring race in the second frame as the UNH tallied 12 points to the Owls' 13. Murad collected two of her eventual five steals in this quarter as SCSU went into halftime up 17 points.
- Southern took its largest lead of the night after
Allie Smith (Danbury, Conn.) made a layup to push the lead to 26 points. The Owls continued their consistent offensive presence in the third quarter as they shot 53.8% from the field.
- The fourth quarter saw New Haven outscore Southern, 14-11. However, a balanced effort of offense and defense from the Owls proved to be too much for the Chargers as SCSU took the victory, 69-50.
