HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half saw plenty of shots with each team shooting seven a piece, but neither team could break the deadlock in the first half.
- The Owls tightened up their defense in the second half and held the Purple Knights without a shot on goal. Southern's offense awoke in the last 15 minutes of the game as Tenn was given a one-on-one opportunity at the 15-minute mark but a great save by the Saint Michael's goalies kept the game even. Three minutes later, senior Dylan Hogan (Wallingford, Conn.) sent a bending shot on goal that looked as though it was destined for the back of the net, but was steered away.
- With just under 11 minutes to play, the Owls' Tenn potted his second goal of the season, and his first since Sept. 5 against Concordia, to give the Owls the late lead. Junior Blaise Haba (West Haven, Conn.) beat his man down the right side before centering a pass to the top of the box to set up Tenn for the game-winning goal.
