The No. 4-seeded Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team will face No. 3-seeded American International College in the 2018 Northeast 10 Conference Championship Final on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. at Adelphi University's Woodruff Hall in Garden City, N.Y. The Owls advanced to their second-consecutive NE10 Championship Game with a 3-1 win against No. 8-seeded Saint Anselm, 3-1. American International defeated No. 2-seeded, and tournament host, Adelphi, 3-2. 

Northeast Conference Championship Semifinals Recap
  • The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team defeated Saint Anselm, 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23), in the Northeast 10 Conference Championship Semifinals at Adelphi University on Friday, Nov. 9. 
  • Leanna Jadus (Long Beach, Calif.) led the Owls with 19 kills as well as seven digs as well as three service aces while Alyssa Gage (Beverly HIlls, Fla.) turned in a double-double with 18 kills and 17 digs. 
  • Gabriela Vazquez (Meriden, Conn.) had 11 kills, seven digs and three aces while Jillian Chambers (Shelby Township, Mich.) had five kills and 18 digs.
  • Freshman setter Kailyn O'Neal (Katy, Texas) had a career-best 48 assists, coming on 58 SCSU kills. 
  • The Owls win was their sixth-straight overall and 10-consecutive victory against a NE10 opponent. 
  • Gage's double-double is her second-straight as well as her 10th in her last 11 games. 
  • Jadus now has back-to-back games with double-digit kills while her 18 kills are also the third-most this season. 
  • O'Neal paced the Owls' offense, recording a career-best and season-high 48 assists on 58 Owls kills in the win.
  • The Owls improve to 6-4 all-time in the NE10 Championship tournament while they also advance to the conference championship for the second-consecutive season.

NE10 Championship Quarterfinals Recap
  • Behind a balanced offensive attack, the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team swept Southern New Hampshire University, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-23), in a Northeast 10 Conference Championship Quarterfinal match-up at Pelz Gym in New Haven, Conn.
  • The Owls' "Big 3" of Alyssa Gage (Beverly Hills, Fla.), Gabriela Vazquez (Meriden, Conn.) andLeanna Jadus (Long Beach, Calif.) each had double-digit kills led by Vazquez's 14 while Gage and Jadus each had 13 kills each.
  • Gage also had 10 digs while Jadus contributed 11 for her 17thdouble-double of the season.
  • Freshman Kailyn O'Neal (Katy, Texas) had 36 assists and three timely kills from the setter position.
  • Vazquez was on a mission to lead the Owls entering the game, shrugging off three-straight games in which she fell short of double digits in kills. The third-year Owl hit .500 for the game for her second-best effort of the season.
  • For Gage she recorded her fourth double-double in her last five games and double-digit kills for the ninth time in her last 10 games.
  • The Owls' win was their fifth-consecutive and their eighth-straight win against a NE10 opponent.
  • The Owls also capped the season at 13-1 (.929 winning percentage) at Pelz Gymnasium for the best home record in program history, and the second-most wins on their home court since SCSU went 14-5 at Pelz in 2009.  
  • The quarterfinal match-up marked the second time the Owls hosted a postseason game on their home court after they hosted Saint Rose in 2012, which they lost.
  • Southern improved to 5-4 all-time in the NE10 tournament and advance to the Championship Semifinals for the fourth time in program history with a 3-1 record in quarterfinal match-ups.

All-Time Against American International
  • SCSU and AIC have met 37 times with the Yellow Jackets owning a 27-10 record all-time against the Owls.
  • AIC pulled out a 3-1 win against the Owls on Oct. 9, and stand as the last team to defeat Southern Connecticut this season. The Owls head into the tournament championship with 10-consecutive wins against NE10 opponents. 
The Last Time They Met
  • SCSU lost t to American International College, 3-0 (21-25, 25-27, 15-25) on Oct. 9. 
  • Leanna Jadus (Long Beach, Calif.) and Kailyn O'Neal (Katy, Texas) both posted double-doubles, with Jadus tallying 10 kills and 10 digs while O'Neal totaled 22 assists and 10 digs. Jadus also produced three service aces while O'Neal had two blocks. 

All-Northeast 10 Recognition
• Alyssa Gage and Leanna Jadus were named to the 2018 Northeast 10 Conference First Team while Kailyn O'Neal was named to the All-Rookie Team, as announced by the NE10 on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018.
• The honors mark the second-straight season that Gage and Jadus have earned First Team recognition after both were named in 2017.
• O'Neal's honor marks the second-straight year the Owls have had an All-Rookie performer after Kirstin Colwell was named to the 2017 team.
