No. 7-seeded Southern Connecticut State University volleyball will compete in its second-consecutive NCAA East Regional on Thursday, Nov. 15 when it faces No. 2-seedeed Adelphi at 2:30 p.m. at University of New Haven's Charger Gymnasium in West Haven, Conn. The Owls are coming off their first Northeast 10 Conference Championship in program history and enter this year's NCAA Regional with a record of 1-1 all-time in national tournament competition.

Tickets for the 2018 NCAA Division II East Region Volleyball Championship will go on sale 60 minutes prior to the first match on each day.
All ticket sales will take place at the Box Office located in the lobby of Charger Gymnasium. Cash only.

All-Time In The NCAA Tournament
  • SCSU made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2017 when it secured an at-large bid and competed in the East Regional.
  • The Owls defeated NYIT in its first NCAA Tournament game, before falling to host and regional top-seed New Haven in the second round.
  • The Owls' "Big Three" of Alyssa Gage, Leanna Jadus and Gabriela Vazquez earned All-Tournament honors at the regional.
  • Gage notched 18 kills and four blocks in the opening round win over NYIT and added 16 kills and a career-best nine blocks against New Haven.
  • Jadus registered her 24th double-double of the year with 16 kills and 15 digs in the win over NYIT and followed with a game-high 22 kills and nine digs against UNH.
  • Vazquez had her 19th double-double of the year with 19 kills and 17 digs in the win over NYIT and added eight kills, 16 digs and five blocks against UNH.

All-Time Against Adelphi
  • Adelphi holds the advantage, historically, as they have won 24-of-26 meetings between the two teams, all-time.
  • The Owls defeated Adelphi, 3-2 (19-25, 25-14, 25-13, 19-25 and 15-12), to end a five-game slide against the Panthers.

The Last Time They Met
  • In the Owls' victory against the Panthers on Oct. 16, 2018, Alyssa Gage had a dominant overall performance highlighted by a career-best 22 kills to go-along with nine digs and five blocks. Gage hit a game-high .370. 
  • Leanna Jadus totaled 15 kills and 14 digs while Kailyn O'Neal tied her career-best with 44 assists while also adding 17 digs.

Hoot News
  • The Owls' have reached the 20-win mark for the eighth time in the program's 49-year history.
  • The Owls', with 21 victories this season and 24 in 2017, have now posted back-to-back 20-win seasons for the just the second time in program history. The last time SCSU accomplished the feat was in 2008 (24) and 2009 (26).
  • SCSU is currently riding a seven-game winning streak as well as an 10-game winning streak against NE10 opponents that dates back to Oct. 13, 2018.
  • In that 10-match streak, the Owls are 30-5 in 35 sets played.
  • The Owls' are 3-0 in five-set matches this season, defeating Saginaw Valley State, Bentley and Adelphi. SCSU's last two losses in five-set matches both came to New Haven – in the 2017 NCAA Tournament and the 2017 NE10 Championship Game.
  • The Owls are also 6-5 in 11 matches that have gone four sets and 12-8 in 20 matches that have gone three sets.

NE10 Tournament Recap
  • The Owls won its first NE10 Championship on Nov. 10 with a 3-0 sweep of American International College.
  • The Owls also defeated Southern New Hampshire (3-0) in the quarterfinals and Saint Anselm (3-1) in the tournament semifinals.
  • Allysa Gage earned NE10 Championship Most Valuable Player Honors after averaging 15 kills and 13.5 digs in three matches.
  • Leanna Jadus joined Gage on the All-Tournament team after averaging 13.3 kills and nine digs per contest.
  • Gabriela Vazquez checked-in with 12.7 kills and four blocks for the tournament.
  • Kirstin Colwell led the team with six blocks in three matches while also chipping in with 12 kills for the tournament.
  • Jillian Chambers averaged 12 digs per match while Kylie Fisher had a team-leading seven service aces, including five in the NCAA Championship match.
  • Freshman setter Kailyn O'Neal had 115 assists for the tournament for a 38.3 per-match average. O'Neal also had a career-high 48 in the Owls' 3-1 win against Saint Anselm in the NE10 Semifinals.
  • Tea Carter was recognized prior to the start of the Owls' NE10 Semifinal match-up with the Elite "24" award, given to the student-athlete with the highest grade-point-average at the championship.

  • Gage is the only player in the conference with over 400 kills and 100 blocks.
  • Gage totaled a team-leading 400 kills, 111 blocks as well as 25 service aces.
  • She finished the season second in points (494.5) behind NE10 Player of the Year Jana Potic (498.5) of American International.
  • In 14 NE10 Conference matches, Gage totaled 180 kills and 50 blocks for 224 points.
  • She's currently on a run with four double-doubles in her last five matches and five in her last eight outings.
  • Her 400 kills this season make her just the second player, along with teammate Leanna Jadus in 2017, to reach 400-kills in a single season.  
  • For her career, her 219 blocks over two seasons are the sixth-most in program history.
  • Gage is also one of three players in the conference to average 4.0-or-more points per set at 4.2.

Leanna Jadus (Sr., Outside Hitter, 5-11, Long Beach, Calif./Wilson)
  • Jadus enters NCAA Tournament play with 390 kills (4th, NE10) and 364 digs (7th, NE10) and was the only player in the league with 350 kills and 350 digs.
  • In addition, her 44 services aces not only led SCSU but also ranked seventh in the conference.
  • Jadus was also one of six players with 400 points for the year, checking in at fifth with 451.5.
  • She also posted 17 double-doubles in the Owls' last 26 matches to lead in the category.
  • Her 1,490 career kills are a program record while her 4,876 career attacks are also the most in program history.
  • In addition, her 162 career services aces are also the most in program history while her 1,373 digs are the third-most all-time at Southern Connecticut.
  • The 2017 NE10 Player of the Year, Jadus became the first SCSU volleyball player to earn All-American honors with AVCA Honorable Mention last season.

Kailyn O'Neal (Fr., Setter, 5-10, Katy, Texas/Tompkins)
  • O'Neal had a remarkable first season with the Owls as her 973 assists ranked fifth in the NE10 while her 8.61 assists-per-set ranked seventh.
  • O'Neal's 973 assists are a freshman record at SCSU and rank as the third-most in a single season in program history.
  • O'Neal reached double figures in assists in all 33 matches she appeared in, reaching the 30-assist mark 18 times and the 40-assist mark six times.
  • Against Saint Anselm in the NE10 Semifinals, O'Neal dished-out a career-best 48 assists in the Owls' win.   
  • O'Neal had 115 assists for the tournament for a 38.3 per-match average. O'Neal also had a career-high 48 in the Owls' 3-1 win against Saint Anselm in the NE10 Semifinals.

Gabriela Vazquez (Jr., Outside Hitter, 5-7, Meriden, Conn./Platt)
  • Junior Gabriela Vazquez totaled 328 kills for the year at a 2.88 kill per set average while hitting .203 for the year.
  • Vazquez also tallied 231 digs for the season, teaming with Alyssa Gage and Leanna Jadus  to qualify SCSU as the only team in the conference to boast three players with 300+ kills and 150+ digs for the season. 
  • Vazquez posted four double-doubles this season, included in back-to-back matches against Stonehill (14 kills, 11 digs) and Southern New Hampshire (10, 11). 
  • Vazquez sits third in points (382.5) on the Owls' roster and second in aces (30). 
  • Two of Vazquez's top performances this season came in the NE10 Tournament as she totaled 14 kills while hitting .500 in a 3-0 sweep of Southern New Hampshire in the quarterfinals and 13 kills and three blocks in a sweep of AIC in the Championship Game, including the match-winning kill in the third set.

Jillian Chambers (Jr., Outside Hitter, 6-1, Shelby Township, Mich./Eisenhower)
  • Jillian Chambers logged 158 kills and 40 blocks for 199 points for the year, good for fourth in the Owls' line-up.
  • Chambers also registered 255 digs at a 2.22 per set average. 
  • Chambers totaled five kills and 18 digs in the Owls' 3-1 win against Saint Anselm in the conference semifinals, and followed with three aces against AIC in the NE10 Championship.

Kirstin Colwell (So., Middle Hitter, 5-11, Coconut Creek, Fla./Monarch)
  • 2017 All-Rookie selection Kirstin Colwell had a solid sophomore campaign, piling up 159.5 points on 126 kills and 59 blocks - which were second to Gage's team-leading 111. 
  • Colwell reached double digits in kills twice this season with 10 against Stonehill, where she also hit .474, and also against Franklin Pierce when she also posted seven digs and eight blocks. 
  • Colwell averaged 4.0 kills per match in the NE10 tournament while also totaling six blocks in for the week, including four in the NE10 Championship match against AIC.

Jennifer Dawson (Sr., Right Side/Defensive Specialist, 5-9, Clinton, Conn/Morgan)
  • Tri-captain Jennifer Dawson finished the regular season with 152 kills at a 1.41 per set average. 
  • She also recorded 33 service aces and 198 digs for the year. 
  • Against Saint Anselm in the NE10 Semifinals, Dawson recorded a season-best 18 digs in the Owls win.
