OWLS PLAY NON-CONFERENCE OPPONENT 
The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team went 1-1 last week in conference play. After a loss to UScience earlier this week, Southern will host Cadlwell University on November 25 for a 1 p.m. showing at Moore Field House.

ALL-TIME VS. CALDWELL UNIVERSITY
The two team are tied at 2-2 in the all-time series.

LAST TIME OUT
The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team fell to the University of the Sciences 67-62 in non-conference action at Bobby Morgan Arena.
  • Beesley recorded his third straight double-double scoring 11 points and nabbing 11 boards.
  • Zack Penn registered his first double-double of his collegiate career with 14 points and 11 rebounds shooting 2-for-5 from beyond the arc.
  • This was the third game in a row the men's basketball team had at least four players reach double figures this season.
 
BEESLEY, IVES COLLECT WEEKLY HONORS
Seniors Luke Beesley (Champaign, Ill.) and Kealen Ives (Providence, R.I.) were selected to the Northeast 10 weekly honor roll for their performances in two games for the Owls last week. Full Release

BEESLEY BOASTS DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Luke Beesley (Champaign, Ill.) has registered three straight double-doubles for the Owls and averages 10 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. The senior collected 12 rebounds and ten points in the win over Saint Rose, he followed that with 14 points and 12 boards in the game against Le Moyne.

OWLS DOMINATE IN FIRST CONFERENCE WIN OF THE SEASON
The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team grabbed its Northeast 10 Conference win of the 2018-19 campaign, 87-64, against Saint Rose at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
  • Luke Beesley recorded  his first double-double of the 2018-19 campaign with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. It was the first double-double for the Owls since Feb. 20, 2018 when Taurus Adams had 18 points and 10 rebounds against Pace.
  • C.J. Seaforth scored a career-high 22 points for his first 20-point performance of his collegiate career. 
  • KealanIves populated the stat sheet with 18 points, six rebounds and a team-leading seven assists. 
  • As a team, the Owls did most of their damage from long range as they hit on 11-of-18 from behind the three-point line. Seaforthled the way with a 5-for-8 showing from downtown.
  • It was also the first time the Owls featured five different players in double figures since Feb. 12, 2018 against Jefferson.

TWO OWLS EARN WEEKLY AWARDS
Seniors Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.) and Kealen Ives (Providence, R.I.) have been selected to the NE10 Weekly Honor roll for their performances against Post University and USciences. McLeod averaged 20 points, 7.0 rebounds and shot .609 from the field this week for the Owls. Ives averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Owls this week.


UCONN EXHIBITION GAME
The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team dropped at 96-64 decision to the University of Connecticut in an exhibition game at Gampel Pavillion. 
  • Junior Isaiah McLeod led the Owls with 19 points, while he also grabbed eight boards and two steals in 30 minutes.
  • Sophomore Ulyen Coleman tallied 10 points, one assist and one rebound in 35 minutes.
  • Senior Luke Beesley registered eight points, grabbed 11 rebounds (four offensive, seven defensive) and had two assists in 33 minutes.
  • Senior transfer Kealen Ives saw his first action as an Owl and finished with eight points, three assists and two rebounds in 28 minutes.
  • Sophomore transfer C.J. Seaforth scored seven points and pulled in two boards in 17 minutes in his Owls' debut.

BURRELL JOINS HUSKIES OF HONOR
Scott Burrell, one of the finest athletes in the State of Connecticut's history, a UConn basketball icon, and an NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls, will become the newest member of the Huskies of Honor when his No. 24 UConn jersey is placed on the Gampel Pavilion wall during ceremonies prior to the start of the Owls match-up against the Huskies on Friday, Nov. 2. 

MCLEOD JOINS 1,000 POINT CLUB
Junior Isaiah McLeod became the 31st player in school history to register 1,000 career points when he hit a three-pointer early in the second half of the Owls win over UNH on Jan. 31, 2018. He enters the 2018-19 season with 1,145 career points. 

RECAPPING LAST YEAR
The Owls are coming off a 16-win season in which they reached the second round of the NE10 Tournament.

LUCKETT, JR. GOES PRO
Former Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball standout Jerry Luckett, Jr. (Milwaukee, Wisc.) signed a professional contract with BBC Grengewald Hueschert in Luxembourg after completing his career at SCSU. 

TOUGH PLACE TO PLAY
Since the start of the 2013-14 season, The Owls are 54-16 (.771) at home and 47-9 in NE10 play (.839).

WELCOME BACK
• The Owls are returning five players from the 2017-18 squad - seniors Isaiah McLeod, Joey Wallace and Luke Beesley, junior Taurus Adams III and sophomore Ulyen Coleman.
• Of those five, four were the Owls' leading scorers:  
Isaiah McLeod led the team in scoring with 20.4 points per game, steals 2.0 per game and second on the team in rebounds per game with 5.7. 
Ulyen Coleman was third on the team scoring 13.2 points per game and was second on the team in 3-point percentage making 41% while Taurus Adams III scored 9.1 points per game. 

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
Southern will welcome eight newcomers to the 2018-19 squad - senior Kealen Ives (transfer from Rider College) and juniors Issac Grant (transfer from Queens College) and Isaiah Boissard (transfer from Western Texas College), sophomore C.J. Seaforth (transfer from Iona College) and freshmen William Antrum, Mekhi Warren, Michael Mozzicato and Zack Penn.

LOSING SOME PRODUCTION
The Owls will look to replace the production of two major contributors who finished their careers in 2017-18:
• Two-time All-Conference player Jerry Luckett, Jr., who was second on the team in scoring with 14.8 per game and led the team in rebounding averaging 6.1 per game. Luckett's great feat came in last seasons NE10 first round when he hit the game-winner at the buzzer to defeat Southern New Hampshire as SCSU moved on to the next round of the conference tournament.
• Senior Bernard Brantley  was second on the team in assists with 67 and averaged 5.5 points per game.

THRIVING IN THE CLASSROOM
Two members of the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team were selected as honorees for the 2017 NABC Honors Court - Luke Beesley and Jerry Luckett, Jr.
