NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team dropped a 85-82 decision to crosstown rival the University of New Haven this evening at Moore Field House.

Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.) led the offense for the Owls in his first game back from injury collected 29 points, while Kealan Ives (Providence, R.I.) collected his first double-double in an Owls uniform with 18 points and 10 assists.

1ST HALF
- Southern Connecticut opened the game with hot hands as they went on a 7-0 run in the first two minutes of play to set the pace. New Haven counterattacked with a 6-0 run of their own behind back-to-back three-pointers.
- After a few minutes of trading baskets, the Chargers briefly tied the game, but it was the Owls pulled away with the lead.
- Southern went on a 10-2 run midway through the first half and extended their lead to 11-points, their largest lead of the game. As the half continued, both teams took their chances, keeping the score close, but the Owls were able to hold onto the lead, going into halftime with a 45-42 lead.
2ND HALF
- An aggressive start to the second half saw New Haven give up five free throw shots to Isaiah McLeod and Kealen Ives to increase the Owls lead to six points.
- Midway through the half, New Haven found their offensive groove and began chipping away at Southern's lead, tying the game at 72-72 with just over seven minutes remaining.
- The Chargers took the lead after a layup from Kessly Felizor at the 5:35 mark to take control of the game. Southern came within three of New Haven with 20 second to go off two made free throws from Isaiah McLeod, however, strong defense from the visitors kept the Owls from converting a shot in the final seconds of the game.
