NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's swimming and diving team claimed a 124-107 victory in their home opener against Pace University at Hutchinson Natatorium.
NOTABLE FINISHERS
- Tyler Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.), Drew Dantino (Waterbury,Conn.), Max Padro (West Haven, Conn.), and Leonardo LaPorte (Washingtonville, NY) won the 200 yard medley relay event with a time of 1:37.52.
- Evan Bombery (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Tyler Steskla (Cheshire, Conn.) came in 2nd and 3rd place with respective times of 10:01.09 and 10:09.88 in the 1000 yard freestyle competition.
- Padro won the 200 yard freestyle event with a time of 1:46.18.
- Laporte won the 50-yard freestyle discipline with a time of 22.39. Greg Rodriguez (Madison, Conn.) came in 3rd place with a time of 22.96.
- Bryce Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.) finished 3rd in the 400 yard individual medley event with a time of 4:22.03.
- Tahj Mitchell-Westberry (Middletown, Conn.) won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 272.00
- Laporte and Bailey Peters (Rutland, Vt.) finished in 1st and 2nd place with respective times of 52.42 and 52.58 in the 100 yard butterfly event.
- Padro and Rodriguez came in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively with times of 48.99 and 50.03 in the 100-yard freestyle event.
- Tyler Castellone and John Gaudio (Cheshire, Conn.) finished 2nd and 3rd with times of 54.19 and 57.29 in the 100-yard backstroke event.
- Bombery finished 2nd in the 500-yard freestyle discipline with a time of 4:55.86.
- Dantino and Matthew Widlar (Middlebury, Conn.) came in 1st and 2nd place respectively in the 100 yard breaststroke event. Dantino won the competition with a time of 1:01.43 and Widlar finished runner-up with a time of 1:02:49.
- The squad consisting of Rodriguez, Tyler Cusano (Hamden, Conn.) Tyler Castellone, and Peters finished in 1st place with a time of 1:28.88.
