Men's Indoor Track & Field Leads Elm City Challenge After First Day

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut men's track & field team led after the first day of the two-day Elm City Challenge at the James Moore Field House in New Haven, Conn. The Owls collected 71 points through six events, leading St. Thomas Aquinas (40), Post (28) and Franklin Pierce (18).

Heptathlon

Philip Quaye (Manchester, Conn.) had a strong showing in the heptathlon, winning the 55 Meter Dash (6.81), Long Jump, Shot Put (38-09) and High Jump (6'2") competitions.
Dan Brown (Lebanon, Conn.) finished second in the 55 Meter (6.82) and High Jump (5'10 ½").
Joshua Prouty (Ellington, Conn.) finished second in the High Jump (5'10 ½") and Long Jump (19'10 ¾").
The final three events – the 55 Meter Hurdles, Pole Vault and 1,000 Meter Run – will be completed on the second day of the event.

Pole Vault

Milan Spisek (Easton, Conn.) and Jesse Nelson (Rockfall, Conn.) tied for first in the Pole Vault event with a height of 15'3".

Long Jump

Royale Jamison (Bronx, N.Y.) and Cole Chapman (Post Mills, Vt.) took second and third place, respectively, in the Long Jump competition, which was won by St. Thomas Aquinas. Jamison posted a distance of 21/10 ¾" while Chapman jumped 21'5 ½".

600 Meter

Carlos Flores (New Haven, Conn.) was the Owls' top finisher, clocking in at 1:22.23 for third place out of six runners.

55 Meter Hurdles

John Witik (Wallingford, Conn.) took first place with a time of 8.45 followed by Aren Seeger (Naugatuck, Conn.) in second place.

55 Meter Dash

Royale Jamison (Bronx, N.Y.) finished third, behind teammates Luke Velez (Killingworth, Conn.) and Orrin Parke who were racing, unattached. Jamison picked up the Owls' points in the event with a time of 6.59.
Naszier Torrence-Robinson (New Haven, Conn.) clocked-in at 6.67.
