The Southern Connecticut women's basketball team will head to Pleasantville, N.Y. for a conference match-up versus the Setters of Pace University. The game is slated for 1:30 p.m. at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

The Owls lead the all-time series with the Setters, 23-19.
 
THE LAST MEETING WITH PACE

Kiana Steinauer tallied her 12th double-double of the season as the Owls clinched the 2017-18 NE10 Southwest Division title with a 53-50 win over Pace on Feb. 17, 2018.

THE LAST TIME OUT 
• Southern fell to AIC, 71-49 on Tuesday, Dec. 4, which was their third straight loss.
• Junior 
Kiana Steinauer (Oakville, Ontario) collected her sixth double-double of the year with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Her eighth straight game with double-digit rebounds.
• Junior 
Imani Wheeler (Dumfries, Va.) tallied five assists and four steals on the night.
• Senior 
Amanda Pfohl (Trumbull, Conn.) contributed 10 points. Pfohl has collected double-digit points in seven of her last eight games.
 
THE OWLS IN THE NE10
 • The Owls currently have three players in the top 20 in scoring, highlighted by 
Jessica Fressle(18.4, 5th), Kiana Steinauer (15.5, 10th) and Amanda Pfohl (12.9, 18th). 
• Pfohl's 25 three-pointers are first in the conference, while Fressle's 14 rank 15th. 
• Steinauer's 13.9 rebounds per game puts her first in the NE10 lead while her 2.4 steals rank sixth.
• 
Imani Wheeler ranks third in the NE10 with 4.9 assists per game and fourth with 2.5 steals per game.
 
SOUTHERN'S BIG THREE
The Owls have been powered by the "Big Three" consisting of: 
Jessica FressleKiana Steinauer and Amanda Pfohl
  • Fressle, who is averaging a team-leading 18.4 points per game, has topped 17 points in six of the Owls' eight contests, which includes three 20-point games.
  • Pfohl checks-in with a career-best 12.9 points per game with a team-leading 25 three-pointers for the year and has scored double figures in seven of the Owls' eight games.
  • Steinauer has grabbed double-figure rebounds in all eight of the Owls regular season games this year, and 13-or-more in six of the Owls' eight games. She averages 15.5 points and 13.9 rebounds per game. 

STEINAUER, FRESSLE TABBED TO THE NE10 HONOR ROLL

Kiana Steinauer and Jessica Fressle have been tabbed to the Dec. 3 NE10 Honor Roll. for their performances last week for the Owls. Steinauer averaged 15.5 rebounds per game last week and collected 31 total rebounds, while chipping in 15 points for the Owls. She currently leads the NE10 in rebounds per game with 14.0. Fressle averaged 19.0 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game this week. She collected 38 points and 13 rebounds in two games for the Owls, while shooting 46.4% from the field.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DROPS TO NO. 10 IN THIS WEEK'S D2SIDA REGIONAL POLL
The Southern Connecticut women's basketball squad dropped to No. 10 in the Dec. 3  DII Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Regional Poll. Southern was tabbed eighth in the D2SIDA East Region Preseason Poll on October 29 before jumping a spot in the first regular season poll last week, another spot to No. 7 in the second week of rankings and then up to No. 6 last week. 

FRESSLE, WALKER EARN NE10 WEEKLY HONORS

Jessica Fressle and Aaliyah Walker have been tabbed to the NE10 Honor Roll for the week of Nov. 26 for their play in the Owls. Fressle had a huge game leading the Southern past Queens College, 83-60 in non-conference action. She collected her first double-double of the 2018-19 season with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while shooting 50% from the field. Walker helped lead the offense with her first double-double as an Owl and set career-highs in points (16), assists (10) and steals (4), while shooting 58.3% from the field. Her 10 assists were also the most for the Owls in a single game this season and the most since Murphy Murad had 10 against New Haven on Nov. 30, 2016. 

PFOHL, STEINAUER TABBED WITH WEEKLY HONORS
Senior 
Amanda Pfohl and junior Kiana Steinauer were tabbed to the NE10 Conference Honor Roll for their performances in the Owls games the week of Nov. 12. Pfohl, a guard, had 23 points on the week (11.5 ppg) with a career-high 17 in a 65-63 win over Le Moyne, while Steinauer, a forward, collected her fourth straight double-double with 38 total points and 24 total rebounds in two games.
 
SETTLING SCORES
With their 73-55 victory on Sunday, November 11, it marked the first time since 2015 that the Owls defeated Bridgeport.
 
KI TO SUCCESS
With 14 boards in the Owls win over Post on Nov. 10, 
Kiana Steinauer has successfully surpassed 500 career-rebounds. With her 25-point performance on Nov. 11 in the Owls win at Bridgeport, she also topped her career best in points (previously 23 points).

TRIO TABBED AS 2018-19 CAPTAINS
Senior trio 
Amanda PfohlErin Ryder and Allie Smith will serve as the captains for the women's basketball squad during the 2018-19 season, as announced by head coach Kate Lynch.

OWLS TABBED TO FINISH THIRD IN THE SOUTHWEST
 The Owls were picked to finish third in the Southwest Division in the 2018-19 Northeast 10 Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll. SCSU had an impressive 2017-2018 season as they went 21-10 overall and 14-6 in the conference leading them to capture the Southwest Division title and to clinch a berth in the NCAA tournament for the seventh time in program history.

The Owls are welcoming three newcomers to the 2018-19 squad - senior 
DeAnna McCarvell (Transfer from Salve Regina), junior Aaliyah Walker (Transfer from Odessa College) and freshman Najae White.

Amanda PfohlAllie SmithErin Ryder, juniors Bridget SharnickKiana Steinauer and Imani Wheeler.
·  Of those seven, two were the Owls top five scorers last year:
·  Steinauer leads the group as she averaged 10.6 rebounds per game (led the team) and 10.1 points per game (second on the team) and 1.5 steals per game.
·  Wheeler was fifth on the team in scoring averaging 5.5 points per game, 1.6 steals per game (led the team) and 1.8 assists per game (third on the team).
