HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mavericks opened the scoring two minutes into the game off of a breakaway shot to the lower left side. They scored three more unanswered goals and went into halftime up by four.
- Junior Blaise Haba (West Haven, Conn.) got the Owls on the board after he scored off of a feed from senior Zak Wright (East Haddam, Conn.) at the 62:29 mark.
- Mercy added one more goal at 69:19 and captured the 5-1 win over Southern.
UP NEXT: The Owls will host the University of Bridgeport for their home opener on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
