Owls Score Two Second Half Goals, Hold Off Franklin Pierce, 2-1

RINDGE, N.H. - Junior Devante Teixeira (Boston, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal as the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team claimed a 2-1 victory over Franklin Pierce.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Neither team notched a goal in the first 45 minutes of play. The Owls outshot the Ravens, 4-3 in the first half.

- Southern broke the tie in the 57th minute, as sophomore Kevin Van Der Pol (Drammen, Norway) scored off a header on a free kick taken by Ignasi Perez Cererols (Barcelona, Spain).

- The Owls doubled their lead in the 65th minute, as Teixeira dribbled into the center from the left side and slotted the ball into the bottom right side of the goal.

- The Ravens scored in the 69th minute off a penalty kick. 

- The Ravens outshot the Owls, 10-4, in the second half, but Southern's defense was able to preserve the 2-1 win.
