The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team went 1-1 last week as it resumed Northeast 10 Conference play. This week, the Owls are set to host the Northeast Division leader Saint Anselm on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Then, the Owls will travel to North Easton, Mass. to face NE10 foe Stonehill College on Saturday, Jan.19 at 3:30 p.m.

ALL-TIME VS. SAINT ANSELM
The Hawks lead the all-time series against the Owls, 26-14. The Owls look to snap an three-game skid against the Hawks, with their last win coming in January 2016.

ALL-TIME VS. STONEHILL
The Skyhawks lead the all-time series against the Owls, 36-26. Southern dropped its last meeting against Stonehill going 2-2 over the last four meetings.

THE OWLS' LAST TIME OUT
• The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team dropped an 88-86 contest in double-overtime to Southern New Hampshire University at Stan Spirou Field House.
• Kealen Ives led the Owls in scoring with 24 points on 11-of-27 shooting from the floor, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. 
• Ulyen Coleman scored 21 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the floor and recorded three rebounds. 
 Isaiah McLeod registered 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. 
• Taurus Adams II tallied 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting, with four boards and added two assists.
 
THE OWLS BY THE NUMBERS
 •  Senior Luke Beesley leads the NE10 and ranks seventh nationally with eight double-doubles to date.
 •  Beesley also ranks 14th nationally and leads the NE10 with 10.2 rebounds per game. His 143 total rebounds rank second in the NE10 and 30th nationally.
 •  Kealan Ives' 6.1 assists per game rank fourth in the NE10 and 13th in NCAA Division II basketball. His 97 assists also rank third in the NE10 and seventh nationally.
 •  Isaiah McLeod ranks second in the NE10 and 19th nationally at 21.8 points per game.
 •  Ulyen Coleman is fifth in the NE10 in three-point field goal percentage (47.1%) while also ranking 14th nationally. Coleman's 41 three-pointers is fourth in the NE10 and rank 19th nationally.
 •  As a team, the Owls' 152 three-pointers rank third in the conference and 27th among all DII schools. 

 IVES MATCHES SEASON-HIGH
 • Kealen Ives matched his season-high in scoring with 24-points, the first time he scored 24 was against Post University on Nov. 10, 2018. 
 
CHART TOPPER
 •  With his 15 points against the Penmen, McLeod now stands in 11th place with 1,475 career points and trails Paul "Topsy" DelGobbo 57' for 10th place all-time at SCSU with 1,507.
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE

Luke Beesley registered his ninth double-double on the season, he is first in the conference and seventh in the nation in double-doubles this year.

The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team was ranked ninth in the seventh week of the D2SIDA Men's Basketball East Region Media Poll, as announced on Jan. 7, 2019. The Owls move up one spot from last week.

The Owls will continue conference action at home as they face Franklin Pierce on Jan. 23 for a 7:30 start. Southern will then host Bentley University on Saturday Jan. 26 at Moore Field House for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off.
