Men's Soccer Falls To Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team lost a non-conference matchup to Bridgeport, 5-1, in Bridgeport, Conn. With the loss, Southern drops to 2-5-4 overall while the Purple Knights improve to 7-4 on the season.

Freshman Ben Pierce (Meriden, Conn.) came off the bench to score his first career goal in the Owls' loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both teams played even through the first 45 minutes as the score stood 0-0 at halftime.
  • Coming out of the half, Nikolai Vadseth opened the scoring for Bridgeport off a pass from Leandro Avila in the 47th minute of play.
  • Pierce responded moments later, tying it up at 1-1 in the 51st minute.
  • From there, it was all Bridgeport as the Purple Knights scored four times in the span of 11 minutes to push their lead to 5-1.

NOTES
  • Pierce's goal makes him the ninth player to score a goal for the Owls in 2019.
