The Last Time They Met: These two squads last faced each other on Feb. 13 as the Yellow Jackets took a 78-65 victory at Moore Field House. Amanda Pfohl '19 knocked down a pair of three-pointers to give her 91 for the season, breaking Kristen Breen's 19-year old single-season record of 90 set during the 1998-99 season. Imani Wheeler tied a career high in points with 23, while adding three assists and two steals.
Last Time Out
- The Owls fell to New York Tech, 69-55 on Nov. 20 in Old Westbury, N.Y.
- Jessica Fressle's 24 points was a career-high for the redshirt junior. Her previous career-high was last set on Nov. 10, 2018 when she had 22 points against Post University.
- Imani Wheeler collected her fifth-straight double-digit point game with 15 points.
- Wheeler tallied four steals against New York Tech. She has collected at least one steal in each of the Owls five games this season.
Team Notes
- SCSU entered last week's DII Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Regional Poll at No. 8. The Owls weren't ranked in the D2SIDA East Region Preseason Poll on October 29, but after opening the season 4-0 with wins over Bridgeport, Bloomfield, Queens and the District of Columbia they found themselves ranked eighth.
- Despite New York Tech snapping Southern's four-game winning streak, the Owls started off the season hot and won their first four games. The last time SCSU won their first four games was during the 2009-10 season against Bridgeport, Le Moyne, Post and Pace to open the season.
Player Notes
- Kiana Steinauer is now up 1,065 career points, ranking 18th all-time in program history.
- Steinauer's 50 rebounds this season puts her seven away from breaking the 1,000 mark in rebounds. She previously broke 1,000 points in the Owls game against Bridgeport on Nov. 9.
- With four steals against New York Tech, Imani Wheeler hit the 150 career steals marker and now has 152 career.
