Baseball Comes From Behind To Top Post, 13-10

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Southern Connecticut State University baseball came-from-behind to defeat Post University, 13-10, in a non-conference matchup at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. The Owls' third-consecutive win puts them at 8-9 overall while Post drops to 2-9 on the season.

Mac Finnegan (Old Saybrook, Conn.) was 2-for-5 with three RBI while Nolan Cloutier (Wallingford, Conn.) and Connor Redahan (Greenwich, Conn.) were both 2-for-5 with two RBI, with both of Redahan's hits going for doubles. Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.), Cameron O'Toole (Grafton, Mass.), Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) and Mike DeMartino (New Haven, Conn.) also collected two hits.

On the mound, Cameron Winiarz (Uncasville, Conn.) picked up his first win of the season after pitching two innings in relief, allowing three runs on four hits as the Owls' bats staged a comeback. Freshman Mike Ferrett (Hamden, Conn.) pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, holding Post scoreless on one hit while striking out two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Post took a 3-0 lead in the third inning off of a two-out, three-run homer. The Eagles plated another run in the fourth and four more in the fifth to take an 8-0 lead.
  • In the sixth, the Owls put together a five-run inning to cut the Eagles lead to three runs, 8-5. Redahan stroked a two-run double to score Lamberti and O'Toole with the game's first runs before a triple from Finnegan scored Redahan. Cloutier then doubled home Finnegan before scoring on an error off a ball hit by Anthony Zambito (Ridgewood, N.J.).
  • After another home run by the Eagles pushed their lead to 10-5, the Owls took the lead with an eight-run seventh inning.
  • O'Toole, Lamberti and Redahan were all hit by pitches to load the bases before Finnegan doubled to score O'Toole and Lamberti. DeMartino then singled to bring Redahan home as the Owls cut the Eagles' lead to 10-8.
  • Cloutier singled to score Finnegan before DeMartino scored the game-tying run to make it 10-10.
  • Palmer drove in Cloutier with the go-ahead run before O'Toole's sacrifice fly scored Zambito and Lamberti's single scored Palmer.

  • With two hits against Post, Redahan now owns a team-best 16-game hitting streak and is the longest since Lamberti's 17-game hitting streak in 2016.
  • Redahan is now hitting .410 (25-61) with nine doubles, 11 RBI and 16 runs scored.
  • Lamberti has now reached base in 10-straight games. With three hits against Lynn, he now has back-to-back games with multiple hits for the first time this season.
