HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern Connecticut got out to a hot start scoring the first two goals of the game. Stephanie Seymour (North Branford, Conn.) broke the deadlock off an assist from Gordon, then Samantha Cozzolino (Hamden, Conn.) found the back of the net to double their advantage.
  • Assumption scored two unanswered goals to tie the game a two apiece, however the Owls countered with two goals of their own to regain their two goal lead.
  • The Greyhounds poured in six-consecutive goals over the next ten minutes of play to hold an 8-4 lead over Southern. Rowe scored with 2:19 left in the half off an assist from Morgan Chase (Windsor, Conn.), but Assumption added one more in the closing seconds of the first to take a 9-5 into halftime.
  • Assumption scored two quick goals in the opening minutes of the second half. However, the Owls responded with four-consecutive goals on two goals from Rowe and Gordon, assisted by Seymour and Cozzolino to bring the Owls within two of the Greyhounds, 11-9.
  • The Greyhounds outscored the Owls 4-2 in the last ten minutes of play with two goals from Kelly Jagodzinski (Stamford, Conn.). Assumption was able to hold off the Owls to take the 15-11 win.
