Men's Soccer Heads To Nyack On Friday, Sept. 13

The Southern Connecticut men's soccer team is back in action on Friday, Sept. 13 when it travels to Mosely, N.Y. to take on Nyack in a non-conference contest set for a 4 p.m. start. The Owls are coming off a 3-1 win at New York Tech on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and stand at 1-0-1 while a 2-2 tie at Shippensburg on Thursday, Sept. 5 places Nyack at 0-0-1 and in the hunt for their first win of the season.

THEIR LAST TIME OUT
  • Southern defeated New York Tech, 3-1, on Wednesday, Sept. 11 in non-conference matchup at President's Stadium in Old Westbury N.Y. for their first victory of the season in the first ever meeting between the two schools.
  • Two goals early in the first half set the tone for the Owls, as sophomore Daniel Utgaard (Kristiansand, Norway) and freshman Tomas Terrugi (Tornquist, Argentina) gave the Owls the lead going into halftime. Senior Devante Teixeira (Boston, Mass.) scored late to put the game out of reach. 
  • Utgaard's goal was the third goal of his college career.
  • Rattet recorded his first assist of his college career. 
  • Teixeira's goal was the eighth goal of his college career, leading all active Owls.  
  • The three goals scored by Southern was their most goals scored in a game since scoring five against Nyack College on Oct. 6, 2018. 

ALL-TIME AGAINST NYACK
Southern and Nyack first faced each other last season, with the Owls taking a 5-0 decision. Five different Owls scored in that game, including Francisco Roldan, Daniel Utgaard, Ignasi Perez, Nicolas Colodrero and Lukas Syzmecki, while Devante Teixeira added three assists. Perez also picked up an assist on Colodrero's goal.

Follow the Owls' match up at Nyack, Southern will return home to open NE10 play when it hosts Assumption on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 PM.
