The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team will travel to Colchester, Vt. to take on Saint Michael's in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. Southern enters the game at 1-1-2 overall and 0-1-0 in NE10 play while Saint Michael's stands at 2-1-0 and 0-0-0 in conference play.

  • The Owls lost to Assumption, 2-1 in overtime, in the Owls' Northeast 10 opener at Jess Dow Field in New Haven, Conn.
  • Daniel Utgaard (Kristiansand, Norway) scored his team-leading second goal of the season off a feed from Juan Avila (Clinton, Conn.). For Assumption, Jason Lages set-up Kevin Hernandez with the game-tying goal before scoring the game-winner in overtime. 
ALL-TIME AGAINST SAINT MICHAEL'S
  • Southern and Saint Michael's have faced each other 19 times, with the Owls owning a 13-2-4 record all-time against the Knights.
  • The Owls have won three-straight against Saint Michael's and own a 6-1-1 record in its last eight games against the Knights. 

NOTES
  • Utgaard's goal was the second of the season and matches his output from 2018 to give him four for his career. 
  • Avila's assist was his first of the season to go along with two goals for five points - good for second on the Owls' roster. 
  • For the night, Carvalho faced nine shots-on-goal, turning away seven in his collegiate debut. 
  • Assumption's second goal was the first overtime goal scored by an Owls' opponent since Oct. 22, 2016 when the Owls lost to Assumption, 3-2, in Worcester. It was the first overtime loss at Jess Dow Field since 2013.  
UP NEXT
Following the Owls trip to Colchester, Vt., Southern will head to Albany, N.Y. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 to face College of Saint Rose.
