Men's Soccer Ties Saint Michael's, 1-1

COLCHESTER, Vt.– The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team tied Saint Michael's College 1-1 in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup in Colchester, Vt. The Owls move to to 1-1-3 on the season and 0-1-1 in conference play, while Saint Michael's moves to 2-1-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play. 

Francisco Roldan Martin (Malaga, Spain) scored his second goal of the season on a header in the 89th minute to tie the game at 1-1, with Kevin Van der Pol (Drammen, Buskerud, Norway) recording his first assist of the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Saint Michael's took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Kyle Brady in the 13thminute.
  • The Owls broke through in the 89th minute to tie the game at one on Roldan's goal to send the game into overtime.
 
NOTES
  • Roldan joins Juan Avila and Daniel Utgaard as the only Owls with two goals this season. 
  • Roldan's goal was the fifth of his collegiate career.
  • Van der Pol recorded his first assist of the season, and the fourth assist of his collegiate career. 
  • Andrey Carvalho (Sao Paulo, Brazil) recorded six saves.
  • The Owls three ties this season are the most ties they have had in a season since 2017, when they had four ties.

The Owls are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 25 when they travel to Albany, N.Y. to take on The College of Saint Rose in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at 7 p.m.
