Men's Basketball Defeated by No.17 Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team fell to No. 17/18 Bentley University, 84-65, in a Northeast 10 Conference game at the Dana Center. The Owls fell to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in the NE10, while the Falcons improved to 14-2 overall 6-1 in the NE10. Bentley is also currently ranked No. 2 in the D2SIDA East Regional Poll.

Senior Taurus Adams II (Milwaukee, Wisc.) finished with game-highs in points with 21 and rebounds with eight. Junior Khalil Richard (Baltimore, Md.) finished with 14 points and a game-high seven assists, and junior Greg Jones (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with 14 points and three steals.

How It Happened
  • Southern took an 11-9 lead with 15:36 remaining in the first half, as Jones converted a layup and nailed a three-pointer.
  • Bentley went on a 10-4 run to take a 19-15 lead with 12:59 remaining. The Owls responded by going on a 9-4 run to take a 24-23 lead with 7:20 remaining in the half. 
  • Bentley would retake and extend their lead to 41-29, their largest of the half, with 1:10 remaining, but the Owls would score four straight points to cut the halftime deficit to 41-33.
  • The Falcons upped their lead to as many as 13 to begin the second half, taking a 46-33 advantage with 18:13 remaining. The Owls then went on a 14-6 run to cut Bentley's lead to 52-47 with 12:55 remaining. 
  • Bentley's lead would increase to 21, however, as they went on 23-12 run a to take an 80-59 lead with 2:27 remaining before hanging on to a 19-point win.  

Notes
  • Adams II recorded his third game this season with at least 20 points scored. He had two such games in the previous three seasons combined.
  • Richard's seven assists were a season-high by a Southern player this season.
  • Jones' three steals tied a personal season high. 
  • Southern tied a season-high with 10 steals, also done on Nov. 10 against Goldey-Beacom. 
  • The Owls forced 19 turnovers, their second most in a season (21 turnovers forced on Nov. 10 against Goldey-Beacom).
