The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team will play a pair of cross-divisional home games at Moore Field House this week. First, the Owls will host Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday, Jan. 14 before hosting Saint Michael's College on Saturday, Jan. 18.

All-Time Against SNHU: 38-24
The Last Time They Met: The Owls fell to the Penmen, 79-59 on Jan. 12, 2019.
Kiana Steinauer notched her 13th double-double with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Imani Wheeler collected 18 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Amanda Pfohl tallied 12 points.
 
All-Time Against Saint Michael's: 18-10
The Last Time They Met: The Owls fell to the Purple Knights, 78-57 on Feb. 2, 2019. Junior 
Kiana Steinauer collected her NCAA Division II and conference leading 17th double-double of the season with 21 points and 17 rebounds, while notching four assists, four steals and a team-high three blocks. Senior Amanda Pfohl collected 15 points, two rebounds, two steals and two assists, while senior Allie Smith chipped in five rebounds and a career-high four assists.

Last Time Out
  • The Owls fell to Bentley University, 101-52 at the Dana Center.
  • Senior Imani Wheeler was the Owls' offensive leader against Bentley as she collected 18 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals.
  • Redshirt freshman Alexa Kellner registered a career-high 15 points, four steals and two rebounds shooting 3-for-5 from three-point range.
  • Senior Aaliyah Walker had seven points, three rebounds and two steals in the loss for Southern.  
 
Team Notes
  • SCSU is third in the NE10 in steals per game with an average of 9.5.
  • Southern Connecticut is second in the conference in three-pointers made with 122.
  • The Owls average the second least number of turnovers per game in the conference and are ranked 29th in NCAA DII women's basketball with 13.4 per game.
  • The team is also 34th in the nation in turnover margin with a margin of 4.71 (192-258).

Player Notes
  • Imani Wheeler has registered double-digit points in three of her last four games.
  • In her last six games, Wheeler averages 2.5 steals per game, collecting at least three steals in four of those six games. 
  • Jessica Fressle has registered double-digit points in five of her last six games including three straight games with 20-plus points. ​​​​​
  • Fressle is also ranked 39th in NCAA DII with free throw percentage of 87.
 
The Owls in the NE10
  • Imani Wheeler is second in the conference in steals per game with 3.2 and second in total steals with 48.
  • Jessica Fressle is 10th in total points with 205 and 11th in points per game with 13.7.
  • Fressle is also tied for sixth in free throws, going 47-for-54 on the season and is fourth in free throw percentage of 87.
  • Two Owls rank in the top ten in minutes per game as Imani Wheeler averages a conference-high 37.7 minutes per game, while Alexa Kellner is eighth and averages 33.5 minutes per game.
  • Wheeler has seen the most minutes in the conference clocking a total of 565 minutes on the floor.

Season Notes
  • Kiana Steinauer is now up 1,065 career points, ranking 18th all-time in program history.
  • Steinauer's 50 rebounds this season puts her seven away from breaking the 1,000 mark in rebounds. She previously broke 1,000 points in the Owls game against Bridgeport on Nov. 9.
  • With four steals against New York Tech on Nov. 20, Imani Wheeler hit the 150 career steals marker. Her 39 steals this season put her at 175 career steals. She broke a career-high in the Owls game against AIC on Nov. 26 with eight.
  • Alexa Kellner's five steals against New Haven was a career-high. Her previous career-high was on Nov. 9 against Bridgeport when she had two.
  • Aaliyah Walker notched a career-high 12 rebounds against Saint Rose on Dec. 11. Her previous career-high was set on Nov. 25, 2018 when she had eight rebounds against Queens College.
  • Ednaija Lassiter collected her first career double-double as an Owl with 16 points and 14 rebounds against Chestnut Hill on Dec. 14, both of which were career-highs. Both of her career-highs were set against Saint Rose on Dec. 10 when she collected 10 points and eight rebounds.
  • Seven rebounds against Chestnut Hill are a career-high for Imani Wheeler. Her previous career-high was set on Dec. 4, 2018 against American International and was tied on three occasions during the 2018-19 season.
  • Imani Wheeler's 11 assists against Saint Thomas Aquinas are a career-high. Her previous career-high was nine assists on Nov. 10, 2018 against Post. 
  • Alexa Kellner's 15 points were a career-high, which she previously set in the second game of the season against Bloomfield on Nov. 10, 2019 when she had 13 points.
