The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team will travel to Rindge, N.H. to take on the Franklin Pierce University Ravens at Franklin Pierce Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. Then, they will return to James Moore Field House to start a two game home stand, starting Stonehill College on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 3:30 p.m.

All-Time Against Franklin Pierce University: 19-28
The Last Time They Met: Southern defeated Franklin Pierce, 100-89, a season ago at James Moore Field House. Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.) scored 21 points on 8-16 shooting, while Ulyen Coleman (Brockton, Mass.) also scored 21 points and shot 7-12 from the field. C.J. Seaforth (Hamden, Conn.) scored 19 points and went 5-8 from beyond the arc and Kealen Ives (Providence, R.I.) recorded a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 10 assists. Overall, Southern has won seven of their last nine games against the Ravens dating back to the 2010-11 season.
 
All-Time Against Stonehill College: 27-37
The Last Time They Met: In the first round of the 2019 NE10 TournamentSouthern defeated Stonehill, 80-75, at James Moore Field House. Ives led the Owls with 37 points, the most for a Southern player in a NE10 tournament game in program history. Joey Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) gave the Owls a 78-75 lead with a three-pointers with 51 seconds remaining. Seaforth added 16 points of his own.

  • Southern defeated Saint Michael's, 63-61, at James Moore Field House on Saturday, Jan. 18.
  • Khalil Richard (Baltimore, Md.) posted his second consecutive 20-point game, as he shot 6-13 from the field and 5-8 from beyond the arc
  • Taurus Adams II (Milwaukee, Wisc.) registered a double-double, scoring 14 points and bringing down 11 rebounds.
  • Greg Jones (Bronx, N.Y.) reached double-digit points with 10, and also pulled down seven rebounds. 
 
Player Notes
  • Richard has scored in double figures in 10 of his last 12 games played, dating back to Nov. 13 against Caldwell. 
  • Since Dec. 10 against Saint Rose, Richard is averaging 15.5 points per game and shooting 46 percent from the field, a span of six games.
  • Richard has three 20-point games this month, and four on the season, and is shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point range in January.

  • The Owls defense allowed just 61 points to Saint Michael's, their fewest in a game this season.
  • Southern has forced at least 15 turnovers in three consecutive games. It is the first time they have forced at least 15 turnovers in three straight games since they did so in four consecutive games during the 2013-14 season in January against Saint Michael's, Stonehill, Franklin Pierce, and Merrimack.
  • Over the last three games, Southern has forced 54 turnovers, as they forced 19 against nationally-ranked Bentley University on Jan. 11, 20 turnovers against Southern New Hampshire, and 15 against Saint Michael's. Their 54 turnovers forced is their most over a three-game span since Jan. 1-Jan. 12, 2016 against Saint Michael's (23), Stonehill (19), and Merrimack (14), when the Owls forced a combined 56 turnovers.
  • Southern has won two consecutive one possession games, as they also defeated Southern New Hampshire on Jan. 14, 77-76. The last time Southern won two consecutive one possession games was during the 1992-93 season, when they defeated Sacred Heart, 83-80, and Le Moyne, 78-75.

  • Southern is fourth in the NE10 in rebounds per game (39.0) and second in offensive rebounds per game (11.9). 
  • Defensively, the Owls are holding opponents to 43.1 percent shooting and 33.7 percent from beyond the arc (both fifth lowest in the conference), while holding opponents to 72.7 points per game (fourth lowest in the conference).

  • Richard ranks second in the NE10 in free throw percentage at 90.6 among players that have made at least two free throws per game and played in 60 percent of their team's games. 
  • Adams II is tied for second in double-doubles with eight, second in offensive rebounds per game with 4.2, and third in rebounds per game with 9.4. 
  • Jones is third in blocks per game with 1.4, recording 18 total in 13 games. 
  • Seaforth ranks third in steals per game (2.0).
