The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team wraps up Northeast 10 crossover play by traveling to Manchester, N.H. to play Saint Anselm on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at 3:30 p.m.
 
With Southern completing a 19-point comeback against Assumption on Tuesday, Jan. 28, combined with New Haven and Adelphi falling to Southern New Hampshire and Saint Michael's, three teams are tied at 7-5 in the Southwest Division, with Pace right behind at 6-6, entering the final month of the regular season. The top three teams in each division automatically earn a spot in the quarterfinals, with the top two teams hosting a quarterfinals game. 
 
All-Time Against Saint Anslem: 15-27
The Last Time They Met: Southern upset Saint Anselm, who was the No. 1 seed in the NE10 Tournament and ranked No. 18/13 nationally, 97-87 in Manchester, N.H last season. Joey Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Taurus Adams II (Milwaukee, Wisc.) also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kealen Ives (Providence, R.I.) and C.J. Seaforth (Hamden, Conn.) delivered 25 points each.
 
Last Time Out
  • Southern came back from 19 points in the final 7:30 against Assumption to win 69-67, at James Moore Field House on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
  • Freshman Levar Allen's (Richmond, Va.) tied the game with a free throw before hitting a layup at the buzzer to give Southern the win. 
  • Redshirt junior Isaiah Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) led the offense for the Owls, as he scored 21 points and shot 9-for-16 and pulled down five rebounds.
  • Greg Jones (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded his second double-double in three games, scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds while also blocking two shots. 
  • Adams II and Seaforth added 12 points apiece. 
  • Southern ended the game on a 25-4 run in the final 7:30. Seaforth scored eight of his 12 points in the final four minutes, which included two three-pointers.
Player Notes
  • Boissard recorded a career-high 21 points, surpassing his previous best of 16 done twice earlier this season.
  • Jones recorded his second career double-double, last doing so against Franklin Pierce on Jan. 22. 
  • Jones is shooting 54.6 percent from the field over his last nine nine games and his averaging 15.4 points per game. 
  • Adams II is averaging 17.6 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game since Dec. 4 against New Haven, a span of 10 games, while also recording six double-doubles in those 10 games and shooting 58 percent from the field.
  • In the month of January, Adams II went 8-14 (57.1 percent) from three-point range. 
  • Jones was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll for the 11th week of the season for his performance against Franklin Pierce University and Stonehill College.
Team Notes
  • The Owls have come back from a 10-point deficit and won three times this season. Including Tuesday's 19-point comeback against Assumption, they did so, twice, against the University of New Haven on Dec. 4 and came back from a 15-point deficit against Goldey-Beacom on Nov. 10. 
  • The last time the Owls came back from at least 19 points and won was on Jan. 29. 2013 against Southern New Hampshire, when they came back from 27-4, a 23-point deficit, and won 62-56.
  • The Owls are 25th nationally in free throw percentage at 77.5 percent. 
  • Southern is second in the NE10 in rebounds per game (39.9) and first in offensive rebounds per game (12.2). 
  • Defensively, the Owls are holding opponents to 42.8 percent shooting (fourth lowest in the conference) and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc (tied for second lowest in the conference), while holding opponents to 71.7 points per game (fifth lowest in the conference). 
  • Southern has gone four consecutive games allowing fewer than 70 points dating back to Jan. 18 against Saint Michael's, their longest streak since the 2011-12 season when against American International, Le Moyne, New Haven, and Adelphi from Feb. 11-Feb. 21. 
  • Southern is allowing just 65.2 point per game and holding opponents to 40.0 percent shooting and 32.4 percent from three-point range over their last four games. 
  • The Owls have won five one-possession games this season already, their most in a season since also winning five during the 1994-95 season.

  • Adams II is second in double-doubles with nine, second in offensive rebounds per game with 4.3, and third in rebounds per game with 9.3. 
  • Seaforth ranks third in steals per game (1.9). 
  • Jones is sixth in blocks per game with 1.3, recording 20 total in 16 games. 
  • Jones ranks seventh in the NE10 in free throw percentage at 87.2, among players that have made at least two free throws per game and played in 60 percent of their team's games.
