Mallory had a legendary career during his four years at Southern, on his way to being named an All-American during his junior and senior seasons. In addition to being the all-time leading point scorer in program history, Mallory is also the program's all-time leader in field goals made (882) and three-pointers made (347). He ranks 28th all-time in Division II history in points scored and fourth in the East Region, and first in the Northeast 10 Conference. Mallory holds the single-game program point record with 47, breaking a 55-year record on Jan. 30, 2016 against Bentley and set the single-game three-point field goal record in the same game, with 10. More than just a scorer, Mallory dished out 355 assists and recorded 150 steals, both top five in program history, and blocked 116 shots, sixth in program history. Mallory, along with his graduating class, graduated Southern with a program-record 94 wins and four NCAA Tournament appearances. Individually, Mallory became the first Southern player to win Conference Rookie of the Year during the 2013-14 season and was a two-time First-Team All-Conference selection, 2016-17 ECAC Player of the Year, and a two-time All-Region selection.

Langston was instrumental in Southern's rebuild to a top program during the decade. Prior to Langston's arrival in 2010-11, Southern averaged 5.3 wins in the previous eight seasons. As a freshman, Langston led Southern to 12 wins, then as a sophomore, to their first winning season in 10 years. A three-time All-Conference selection, Langston ranks third in program history in points (1,890), fourth in field goals made (690), sixth in three-pointers made (172), sixth in steals (140), and ninth in rebounds (626). During his senior season, Langston was an All-American selection, ECAC Player of the Year, and NE10 Player of the Year (the first Southern player to receive the honor), led the conference in scoring, and led Southern to their finest season in school history with a 30-3 record and their first ever Conference Southwest Division title and Conference Tournament title. With Southern down a point with eight seconds remaining in the conference championship game against University of New Haven, Langston nailed the game-winning three-pointer.

Thrust immediately in the starting point guard role as a freshman, Smith made an immediate impact as soon as he arrived as he was named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team. Over his four years, Smith was a two-time First-Team All-NE10 selection and garnered All-American Honors as a senior. Smith was named MVP of the Conference Championship against New Haven in 2014, as he scored 22 points on 7-12 shooting and 3-5 from three-point range while dishing out seven assists without turning the ball over. During Southern's seven postseason games, he averaged 21.7 points per game, including 24.0 points per game during the NCAA Tournament. Smith set the Southern single-season assists record with 178 during the 2014-15 season holds the career program record with 528 assists.

After transferring to Southern for his junior and senior seasons from the Community College of Rhode Island, Williams turned into an all-around superstar with the Owls. Williams was named an All-American, ECAC Player of the Year, and is one of two players to be named NE10 Conference Player of the Year during the 2015-16 season. Williams scored 1,033 points and pulled down 502 rebounds in only 58 career games. On Jan. 26, 2016 against Assumption, Williams became the seventh player in program history to score 40 points in a game. On Jan. 20, 2016 against Southern New Hampshire, Williams became the second player in school history to record nine blocks in a game. He scored the fourth most points in a single-season in in school history with 676 and recorded the second most steals with 68, leading the conference, during his senior year and sixth nationally in double-doubles.

He is one of five players to average at least 20 points per game in two different seasons, doing so in his junior and senior years. McLeod also ranks eighth all-time in career steals with 138. McLeod was a two-time NE10 All-Conference selection, garnering first-team honors as a senior. In addition to his first-team honors, he was named to the 2019 All-ECAC Team, NABC Division II All-District First-Team, and D2CCA All-East Region Second-Team.

Hamlet was a three-time All-Conference selection, garnering First-Team honors during his senior season in 2012-13. Hamlet made an instant impact when he arrived to Southern for his sophomore season, improving the Owls win total from two during the 2009-10 season to 12 during the 2011-12 season and a conference tournament berth, their first in 10 years. Hamlet scored 1,396 points after transferring to Southern for his final three collegiate seasons. Hamlet also ranks third all-time in blocks with 188. Hamlet was also responsible for the installation of the student section behind one of the baskets at James Moore Field House.

Over the last decade, the Southern has compiled a record of 173-94. They have made the NE10 Conference Tournament in 10 consecutive seasons, the only program to do so, and four NCAA Tournaments. Southern made the Elite Eight in 2014 and Sweet 16 in 2015. The 2013-14 team was the only team of the decade to win 30 games, and is one of four teams to ever win at least 30 games in a season since the NE10's founding in 1980.
