Women's Lacrosse Falls To No. 14 Assumption College

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 14 nationally ranked Assumption College, 19-6, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup in Worcester, Mass. The Owls fall to 2-2 overall, and 0-1 in the NE10, while the Greyhounds improve to 2-0 overall and in the NE10.
 
Four different Owls scored goals, led by sophomore Mia Pulisciano (Cheshire, Conn.), who scored two goals. Sophomores Karlie Rowe (Niantic, Conn.) snd Bayleigh Takacs (Sparta, N.J.) and juniors Steph Seymour (North Branford, Conn.) and Hailey Gordon (Niantic, Conn.) also scored goals. Gordon and Seymour also each dished out assists. Seymour also recorded seven draw controls, and junior Laura Morton (Somers, Conn.) had nine saves. 

First Half
  • After Assumption scored first to take a 1-0 lead, Southern responded with two quick goals to take the lead. Rowe found the back of the net after a great defensive play by Gordon and Seymour, then Pulisciano gave Southern a 2-1 lead with her sixth goal of the year.  
  • Takacs halted a 4-0 Assumption run with a goal on a free-position shot with 16:09 remaining to cut Assumption's lead to 5-3.
  • Assumption took a 9-3 lead, but the Owls batted back with two consecutive goals, one by Seymour and another by Pulisciano, to trim the Greyhound lead to 9-5 with 9:15 remaining.
  • Assumption took a 12-5 lead into halftime.

 
Second Half
  • Gordon scored goal with 13 minutes remaining, but Assumption scored seven goals in the second half to win.

Notes
  • Pulisciano, a transfer from Endicott College, has scored two goals in three consecutive games. 
  • Rowe has scored a goal in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season. 
  • Takacs, Pulisciano, Rowe, Gordon, and Seymour have scored in every game this season. 
  • White recorded her second career assist.
