HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bentley's Stephen Sturm put Bentley on the board with a two-yard run, before a failed point-after attempt gave Bentley a 6-0 lead.
  • Gawlick converted on a pair of field goal attempts, from 35 and 32 yards, to tie the game at 6-6.
  • After Sturm tossed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Abel Lopes to give the Falcons a 13-7 lead, an Owls fumble on the ensuing kick-off served as Southern's undoing.

  • The Falcons scored again on their first drive of the second half to take a 27-6 lead.
  • The Owls answered after both teams traded possessions when Reali hooked up with Papallo for a 15-yard touchdown to cut Bentley's lead to 27-13.
  • Early in the fourth, Bentley capitalized on another Owls' turnover, scoring on Sturm's second touchdown toss to Lopes on the day to take a 34-13 lead.
  • Late in the fourth, Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre (Hamden, Conn.) returned a punt 26 yards to give the Owls the ball at their own 47-yard line. Reali guided the Owls on a seven-play drive, highlighted by a 20-yard run by Papallo out of the Wildcat formation, before Reali ran it in from eight-yards out to trim Bentley's lead to 34-20.
