NEW HAVEN, Conn - The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team played University of Bridgeport to a 0-0 tie in their home opener at Jess Dow Field on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021. The Owls are now 0-1-1, while the Purple Knights are now 0-1-2.
Bailey Bassett (Andover, Conn.) held Bridgeport scoreless for 110 minutes in goal and added five saves. Both teams had six shots on goal, with
Zachary Tuccitto (Clinton, Conn.) having a team-high two shots on goal.
Santiago Slapak (Manuel Alberti, Buenos Aires, Argentina), Matt Surette (Bowie, Md.), Juan Alava (Guayaquil, Ecuador), and
Joshi Muñoz (New Haven, Conn.) also recorded shots on goal for the Owls.
Notes
- Bassett recorded his fifth career shutout, and his first since Oct. 23, 2018 against Saint Rose.
- Three of Bassett's five saves came in the first half, and he also recorded one save during the first overtime period.
