SCSU Men's Soccer Comes-From-Behind To Tie Le Moyne, 2-2

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut men's soccer team came back from a two-goal deficit to tie Le Moyne, 2-2, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Jess Dow Field. With the tie, Southern goes to 4-3-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the NE10 while Le Moyne moves to 3-2-5 overall and 1-1-4 in conference play.

Leroy Best (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany) had a hand in both of the Owls' goals, scoring the first on a penalty kick before setting up Karim Said (Erlangen, Germany) with the equalizer. In goal, Devin Juan (Meriden, Conn.) had nine saves.

Le Moyne's Max Buesch scored both of the Dolphins' goals, converting on a penalty kick in the 12th minute of play and then scoring again early in the second half.

Trailing 2-0, Le Moyne's Benedict Klimmek took down Yannick Hilpert at the top of the box. Flagged for a foul, it set up Best to net his first of the season. From there, the game turned chippy as both sides were whistled regularly over the final 30 minutes of play.

In the 73rd minute, Murphy Malone had a throw-in from in front of the Owls' bench that caromed off of several players before finding its way to the box. Zachary Tuccitto knocked down an attempted clear by Le Moyne before it bounced off of a Le Moyne player and over to Best who handed a pass to Said. Said side-stepped a defender and then buried a shot to the bottom right corner to tie the game at 2-2.

Down the stretch, Juan made four saves including a shot from the top of the box with less than two minutes to play that salvaged the tie for the Owls.

Southern returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 5 when it travels to West Haven, Conn. to take on New Haven in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at 4 p.m.
