WALTHAM, MASS.- Needing a win at Bentley in their season finale to clinch a home game for the first round of the upcoming Northeast 10 Conference tournament, Southern Connecticut men's soccer did just that with a 4-0 win against the Falcons in Waltham, Mass. Southern finishes the regular season at 9-4-3 overall and 6-3-2 in NE10 play.
With seeding still to be determined, the Owls faithful can plan on being at Jess Dow Field for the start of tournament play on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 4 p.m.
Leroy Best had two assists in the game, which saw four different Owls score in the win.
Alessio Caradolfo got things rolling with his second goal of the year off a corner to give the Owls a 1-0 lead early in the second half.
Best then followed with a take-away at midfield before driving to the goal through traffic and feeding
Zachary Tuccitto. Tuccitto blasted a shot from 30-yards out to the top left corner to give Southern a two-goal lead.
Later in the half,
Karim Said beat the Bentley keeper on a penalty kick for his third marker of the season.
With just under 14 minutes to play, Owls leading goal-scorer
Yannick Hilpert netted his eighth of the season, with an assist to Tuccitto, to give Southern a 4-0 lead.
