Southern Connecticut men's basketball opens the 2022-23 season at the Bridgeport Tipoff Classic on Nov. 12-13. The Owls will face Post on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. and Bridgeport on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m.

Owls Notes
  • Southern returns all-NE10 selection and 2018 Rookie of the Year Ulyen Coleman, who averaged 12.1 points an 5.7 rebounds last season while ranking second in the Owls' lineup with 28 three-pointers.
  • Coleman enters his fourth year with the Owls with 964 points in 73 career games for a 13.2 per-game average, as well as 380 rebounds at a 5.21 per game clip.
  • Zack Penn also returns after averaging 7.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per contest a year ago.
  • In 57 games in three seasons, Penn has averaged five points and five rebounds per game.
  • Sean James saw limited playing time due to injury as a freshman in 2021-22, but averaged 6.5 points in 18.3 minutes per game while knocking down 11 three-pointers in six games at a 45.8% clip.
  • The Owls' lineup will feature NCAA Division I transfer Marty Silvera, who comes to New Haven from NCAA Elite 8 participant St. Peter's. Silvera saw action in 44 games over the last season two seasons in Jersey City.
  • Returning student-athletes to provide depth to the Owls' lineup include Leo Chaikin, Alex Lin, Elmin Redzepagic, Logan Bagshaw and Evan Gutowski.
  • Other returners include Cherif Diarra and Kazell Stewart, both of whom sat-out last season at Southern.
  • Newcomers to the Owls lineup include Jahlijah Grant, a 6-4 guard from Mississauga, Ontario, and Greg Williams, a 6-5 guard from Fairfax, Virg.
