Southern Connecticut football will host Post in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 12 p.m. at Jess Dow Field. The Owls enter the weekend with a record of 2-7 overall while Post is currently 0-8.

ALL-TIME AGAINST POST
Saturday's game between Southern Connecticut and Post is the first all-time as Post recently elevated to NCAA Division II status after hosting a Spring football program.
 
THE OWLS' LAST TIME OUT
  • The Owls won an overtime thriller in Springfield, Mass. with a 23-22 victory at American International.
  • Marc Reali (Biddeford, Me.) scored the Owls' game-winning touchdown in overtime to cap an incredible performance for Southern Connecticut.
  • Ryan Soules (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and Shawn Martin (Scotch Plains, N>J.) both had touchdown catches in the Owls' win.
  • Martin had four catches for 39 yards and also carried the ball 13 times for 35 yards and a 23-yard kick-off return.
  • On defense, Harrison Smith (Rochester, Mass.) blocked an point-after attempt and returned it 92-yards for two points for the Owls. 
  • Hasan Dominick (Jersey City, N.J.) led the Owls with 10 tackles while Jahlil Watson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Joe DiGello (Orange, Conn.) both had eight tackles. 
  • Matt Ansell (Red Bank, N.J.) broke up three passes while also finishing with seven tackles for the Owls while Ja'Kai Young (Stamford, Conn.) also broke up two passes. 
MARC REALI NAMED NE10 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
  • Reali turned in his best performance of the season when he led Southern to a 23-22 win against AIC on the road.
  • The Owls' second-year quarterback was 19-for-24 for 227 yards and two touchdown passes while also racking up 18 yards on the ground, including a 5-yard touchdown run.
  • Reali's first score came on a 13-yard pass out of the backfield to Shawn Martin, who also scored his first career touchdown on the play.
  • Reali also hooked up with Ryan Soules on a 41-yard touchdown toss that gave the Owls a 16-13 lead - their first of the game. 
  • In the end, it was Reali on the keeper from five yards that gave Southern a 23-16 lead in overtime to complete Southern's road win at American International.
  • Matt Ansell was named to the Weekly Honor Roll after he had seven tackles and broke up three passes, the most in a single game this season for the Owls.
  • Ansell had a break-up on third down late in the fourth quarter that ultimately kept the Yellowjackets out of field goal range as they missed their attempt that would have given them the lead.  
OWLS NOTES
  • Tylon Papallo leads the Northeast 10 Conference with 577 receiving yards while his 64.1 yards-per-game average is third and his 16 yards-per-catch is second.
  • Papallo's four receiving touchdowns rank fifth in the conference.
  • Papallo also ranks fourth in all-purpose yards with 735. In addition to his 577 receiving yards, he also has a conference-leading 168 punt return yards for a 81.7 yard per game average.
  • Papallo is also the only player in the NE10 to return a punt for a touchdown – an 82-yard trek against Franklin Pierce.
  • Shawn Martin sits in third place in all-purpose yards with 743 for an 82.6 yards per game average. Martin has totaled 548 kick return yards, which ranks second in the NE10, while also totaling 80 receiving yards, 99 rushing yards and 16 punt return yards.
  • Martin's 21.9 yard average on kick returns is third in the conference.
  • Marc Reali is 80-for-150 for 1,029 yards with seven passing touchdowns while also totaling 60 carries for 187 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
  • Szymon Gawlick ranks 11th in the NE10 in scoring with 31 points on the strength of 16 extra pints and five field goals.
  • On defense, Hasan Dominick is third in the NE10 with 65 tackles, while also totaling 1.5 sacks and two pass breakups.
  • Joe Digello sits seventh in the conference with four sacks, while also totaling 55 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, forced two fumbles and has a 50-yard interception returned for a touchdown.
  • Robert Nunez has totaled 63 tackles for the year, making Southern of two teams with two players with 60 tackles to date.
  • Ja'Kai Young is fourth in the conference with three interceptions and 11th with five pass breakups.
  • Matt Ansell is right behind Young with two interceptions and four pass breakups while Quinton Haugton is tied with Young with five pass breakups.
  • Ben Eichman has forced two fumbles, recovered one, intercepted two passes and broke up four more. 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • Quarterback Broghean McGovern is 129-for-256 for the year with 1,498 yards and 12 touchdowns.
  • McGovern has also accounted for 113 yards on 102 rush attempts on the ground with three rushing touchdowns.
  • Roberto Salas has 47 carries for 158 yards and a touchdown.
  • Christian Collin leads Post with 30 catches for 322 yards and three touchdown receptions while Jermaine Tillery has 21 catches for 289 yards and a touchdown.
