Southern Connecticut women's basketball will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on Jefferson in a non-conference matchup set for a 1:00 p.m. start. The Owls' Last Time Out
Southern is coming off a 82-66 win against Adelphi in Garden City, N.Y. on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Delaney Connors and Zoe Amalbert combined for 43 points, with Connors totaling a team-leading 23 points and Amalbert pouring in a season-best 20. Connors had her top game of the season as she filled the box score with eight assists, six rebounds and two steals while shooting 9-for-16 from the floor, including a 4-for-7 showing from three-point range to go-along with her season-best point total. Amalbert's 20 points are also a season-high and accompanied her nine rebounds and four assists. Amalbert knocked down four three-pointers as well, and converted on 8-of-10 free throw attempts for the game. In addition to Connors and Amalbert, fifth-year transfer Isabella Santoro tagged Adelphi for a season-best 15 points while double-double threat Katie Williamson scoring nine points with nine rebounds.
Scouting The Owls
- The last time Southern faces Jefferson was on Dec. 18, 2021 where the Owls fell 54-62 at home.
- Delaney Connors earned her first NE10 Weekly Honor Roll selection of the 2022-23 season after her performance against Adelphi where she scored a season-best 23 points, which also stood as the season-high for the Owls, with eight assists, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Connors hit on 9-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-7 from three-point range. Her four three-pointers were a career-best.
- Connors averages 11.5 points, 4.5 assists and 5.6 rebounds.
- Zoe Amalbert leads the Owls with with a 13.5 points per game average, going 43% (10-of-23) in three point range from the past four games. She totals 13 three pointers thus far. Amalbert clocks in with team-bests in assists (4.6) and steals (1.6). She leads the Northeast 10 in assists with Delaney Connors following close behind in second.
- Katie Williamson leads the team in rebounds, averaging 6.9. She also clocks in with 11.5 points per game, shooting 49.4% (42-85) from the field. She also has 1.3 assists, and 1.4 blocks.
- Ashley Evans checks in with 7.9 points per game while shooting 52.7% (29-55) from the field with 4.6 rebounds per game.
- Renza Milner is averaging 2.6 points and four rebounds per game. Over her last three contests she has come up with four steals.
